He’s an Outside LB in the NFL which means like Overshown going after the QB will be big in the playbook . 6’2” 245 plenty of size to hold up and the Cowboys are going to have to invest early in this draft at this position make up for losing # 13 . Carl Lawson can fill the edge along with Kneeland & Golston , Walker meant for the LB position .

I suggest they bring Kendrick’s back for the middle I think when he’s on the field he’s passed the test .

Starks will be gone round one if Dallas passes on him he might even be gone before they pick . You can flip this take Starks and hope a Jalon Walker OLB type is available when your # is called round 2. This defense has to get better if Dallas is to contend not WR TE or RB early
The difference is Overshown had + tape off ball as a prospect…Walker does not. All of his hype is as a pass rusher.

I agree that defense has to get better, especially against the run, but the offense has to also be addressed as they were as bad as the defense before Dak went down.

I think Dowdle and a 3rd or 4th rounder in the draft takes care of RB . The OL is young and promising getting better . The Cowboys have collected a half dozen receivers 3 TE’s and the QB has a ridiculous contract . I will say this , somehow in year 10 ( 2025 ) the expensive QB has to perform .

Don’t you want to give your expensive QB a chance with good WRs like all the other teams with expensive QBs do?

Half dozen receivers does not mean they are any good. As for Dowdle, need to see more, he really has taken advantage of weak opponents, will will find out more the next 2 weeks,

Doesn’t Mahomes throw to whoever Andy Reid collects every year ? The Broncos are driving for a playoff berth with Sutton and …. ? The Commanders have Terry McClaurin and ? I mean after a decade of coming up empty I’m tired of blaming the “ receivers “ . Cooper Rush found both Tolbert and Brooks in the end zone last week .

No…Mahomes had an up and coming pro bowler pre injury in Rice, a 1st rounder in Worthy and they even traded for another 1st rounder in Hopkins and a HOF TE in Kelce.

Once the Commanders or Broncos make a legit playoff run we can bring them into the conversation.

Tyreek Hill priced himself out of KC . Now Rice is out . Like I said it’s a revolving door for the back to back SB champs and don’t ask about the run game or OLine KC is always shuffling the deck the constant is Mahomes / Kelce .

Dallas keeps drafting receivers but they all “ don’t meet standards “ including a 4 on Mingo . At what point is it the delivery system and not the receivers ?

I would recommend in 2025 if this coach comes back that a dedicated OC get hired to devise an offense taking into account a 10 yr vet QB who’s not very mobile needs to utilize whoever is on the roster .

I’ll say one thing about Rush, I see the ball being spread out more . For one thing Jalen Brooks has been located and Spann Ford gets some passes come his way .

Rice is injured…not out. So they have a 2nd rounder, 2 1st rounders and a TE. And things supposed to be for the best QB on the planet who “doesn’t need much help.”
They’ve also made a conscious effort to build up their OL and defense over the year.

To summarize - they know they have a franchise QB so they’re doing everything they can to continue to put high value weapons around him while building a good defense to give them multiple chances.

Dallas hasn’t drafted a top 50 WR since Lamb…I don’t care if we’ve drafted a bunch since if they’re all bad. It’s a premium position that requires premium picks to get good players.

And Jalen Brooks has 11 catches this year…he wouldn’t even be playing for a playoff team.

Rice Injured = out he’s not playing. As far as Jalen Brooks is concerned Rush seems to locate him on the field . Dak is either forcing the ball to Lamb or dumping it off to Ferguson or occasionally Tolbert .

Let me bring up Flournoy . Supposedly a bigger physical target who can YAC and yet he’s either inactive or invisible .

Schoonmacher a 2nd rounder . 6’6”. Should be a valuable red zone target and again Rush seems to find him . Then 250k was spent getting Spann Ford as an expensive UDFA . How many tight ends can Dallas keep collecting ?

Without a tough versatile defense your offense won’t matter . Detroit giving up 48 to Buffalo proved that I suggest Dallas concentrate a lot on this D next April

I mean…sure but they still drafted him right? Mahomes has a loaded WR / TE room and we’re discussing Brooks / Tolbert / Flournoy…

There is an astronomical talent gap when you look at our weapons vs legit playoff teams…massive gap.

No matter what Dallas has spent on the WR position it isn't working. Cooks, Brooks, Tolbert and Flournoy can't separate and rarely make any big plays down the field.

Dallas has a find a legit #2 WR, the NFL is a passing league and we don't have Mahomes at QB. Like it or not Dak needs weapons to be successful.

Sure let’s draft more receivers TE’s and someone even suggested drafting multiple RB’s when the better offenses in the NFL play Dallas and it’s a wipeout . GB playoff game . New Orleans Philly Baltimore even an injured SF squad ran up the score .

The massive talent gap you mention KC vs Dallas exists , it’s on Defense . Chiefs actually force 3 and outs limit teams from scoring at will .

And all of those NFC playoff teams you mentioned have a loaded group of weapons on offense which helped them rack up points on us.

Yes, the defense needs help but the WR position is also a massive need if we want to get over the hump.

Let me ask you this the 3rd on Tolbert the later rounds on Brooks & Flournoy hardly utilized the 4 on Mingo I rarely see him get a target the 2 on Schoon $$ invested in Spann Ford . None of them are contributors in a winning future ?

I’m not exactly sure what the question is but high level the answer is no…they aren’t good enough. They aren’t utilized because they can’t consistently separate and finish.

On a side note we got fleeced on the Mingo trade - he did zero in Carolina and giving up a 4th was laughable.

Just look at the resources spent by the Chiefs and look at the Cowboys: Worthy (1st rd pick), Hopkins (Hall of famer), Brown (1st rd pick), Moore (2nd rd), Rice (2nd rd), Kelce (Hall of famer).

Cowboys: Lamb (1st), Cooks (1st), Tolbert (3rd), Mingo (3rd), Brooks (7th Rd), Turpin (Undrafted), Flornoy (6th rd), Ferguson (4th), Schoon (2md)

It's laughable to compare both positional groups. Cowboys have a ton have raw, developmental types and 1 aging receiver in Cooks.
