How would Stephen Jones run this franchise with Jerry not here?

I just get the feeling that Stephen is not as smart as his father was when he was younger. But that may not be the whole story because I think Jerry is smart enough to build a championship team, except since Jimmy Jerry's pride and ego have gotten in the way.

Maybe Stephen would hire someone to help him run the team, like an assistant GM. Or Maybe Stephen would step back and just be an owner when his dad is gone. This is the thing. We do not know what Stephen will do when Jerry steps aside. He could surprise us and hire a GM immediately.

Some of you are saying he'll possibly hire a GM, would he really?? I think it would be an honor for him to do this, because we've been saying that Jerry needs to have done this for years

Listen to Jerry's latest JWB inspired rant. He is firmly in control of the Cowboys.
Yep. If Jerry has done one thing this off season, it's to put to rest any claims of Will McClay, Stevie, or anyone else being the "real GM". Jerry's iron grip is as strong as ever.

1. Would he continue to preach that we need to spend less and draft well?
2. Does he hire an actual GM to run the football operations
3. Does he take risks and gambles as his father had done in his career as the owner of the Cowboys
4. Will he be as involved in the press conferences, and look for attention in the media as his father did
5. Will he allow his head coach to be the head coach and want all the control

This should be interesting to see your thoughts on how you feel Stephen would control this team, Please give your thoughts!
From what we have seen through the last 20 plus years of Stephen, then #1 definitely, #3 never, #2 probably with options, #4 very doubtful, and #5 probably up until a contract renewal.

I have long said Stephen will be worse. 99% of nepo babies are. He has none of the charm Jerry has. Cheaper. Dare I say more arrogant. Stephen will be terrible.

In short, I think he still keeps the team affordable/cheap as much as possible and leans heavily on McClay who I believe he'd make the GM. I definitely don't see him being out front and in the public eye as much w/o his father around.

You need a crystal ball to answer the OP’s questions. If you believe in like father like son, then we probably have a pretty good idea how Stephen would run the franchise. Unfortunately, the apple probably didn’t fall that far from the tree. However, Stephen does seem to be a little more sensible than Jerry. He did talk Jerry out of drafting Johnny Manziel.

If / when Stephen takes over. He may give Will McClay more power as the pseudo GM without the title. As Stephen takes over that title.

The owner title will simply be the Jones family. Kind of like the Hunt's, the Ford's, the Rooney's.

The process (no not Garrett) will be the same. Except Stephen will now approve / sign off on any roster moves, after he negotiates the contracts.
He will go by McClay's suggestions and recommendations, based upon contract agreements.

I think he will go by McClay and the HC draft selection though. As he does not get caught up in the lime light player picks (see Manziel) that Jerry wanted.
