How would you grade the 2013 draft class now?

Webb, Randle, Holloman all out of the league.

Escobar, Wilcox never amounted to much of anything.

Williams looking to be replaced, but did have a couple decent seasons as the #2. Probably doesn't see a 2nd contract.

Frederick. Hit, nice pick.

C/C-

Slightly better than the 2012 class, but when you look at those 2 classes back to back it's easy to see how we're a 4-12 team.

The first 3 picks are OK. If the team ever was forced to actually use Escobar, I believe he would easily perform as a 2nd round pick if not better. Frederick is a hit. Williams has flaws but overall is a decent #2. The rest is a wash. Grade: C-

We have to remember that Holloman had a career ending injury but before that I liked what I saw. He was always around the ball and was one of our best special team players.

People continue to rag on Williams but he is a good player.

Escobar was just an awful pick. Knew it at the time.

Obviously hindsight is 20/20 but hate seeing Keenan Allen picked right after TWill. And no, Williams is not a good player by any means. He really is only good if the play breaks down. Otherwise he is a poor route runner and has well noted suspect hands.

Fredrick - A+
Can't be a bad grade when you get a player the caliber of Fredrick. If you hit one player of that caliber in every draft you would probably have a solid roster before their rookie contracts are up.
Escobar - C
Not a terrible pick from a talent stand point, but if you can't get a 2nd rounder on the field in three years, why take him?
Williams - C
Nothing special, borderline starter in this league, but does still have some upside. In reality hes a rotational/role player. For a 3rd round pick that's about stereotypical.
Wilcox -C
I could just copy and paste what i said about Williams here.
Webb - F
Did nothing for us.
Randal - D
Showed he has the talent to play in the NFL, although at what kind of role is debatable. Guy was a total idiot tough, and ended up being more of a headache that anything.
Holloman - NA
Not fair to really grade him against the Cowboys here. Had he not gotten injured he would most likely be starting somewhere right now, and looked to be one of the steals of the draft.

Overall C

Overall not a great draft, but it gives me hope for future drafts. I do think our college scouting has improved in the last few years. If randall wasn't a knucklehead and Holloman stayed healthy we probably look at this class a lot differently. The Escobar pick is still a head scratcher though.

I seem to remember reading about a couple other teams who had him ranked as a borderline first round player, though with that draft being long gone, I can't really find an article confirming such.

Just remember this: it's never, ever a reach if that player becomes a top 3 player at his position in the NFL unless we're talking about a STer. The rest of the draft sucked though, yes.

That was something that was posted here....I read it. Pretty sure that was some spin Dr. magic trying to works it's way around. I'm not buying it. don't think anybody had a 3rd grade or higher on him.

Most fans hate are more critical of our drafts no matter what. Always think players / picks are worse than what they are. Maybe they are more right than wrong, but sometimes they are wrong.
Webb was a complete bust in that draft, Randle turned out to be a headcase, but was productive while here. It is not Escobar's fault the coaches didn't utilize him more. Holloman was injured and caereer ending but showed signs of a very nice pick. Wilcox and Williams, well, they are better than most think. Wilcox not as what they hoped, can be replaced, but with a new secondary coach, and if at SS and Jones at FS, maybe we will see. Not sure why people want to hate TWill...oh, they always need players to hate regardless.

Yes they could have done better, and should have done so in some cases.
To me it is more they trying to be cute, or thinking they are sneaky pulling one over on the other teams

like drafting these stupid injured players...that has not worked out
making late round trades, giving away picks for a player they could have had as an UDFA
signng injured FA's thinknig in 2 years they will recover and be a steal...that hasn't worked out so well either

Yes, we need to see what happens with a few of these players yet too, but stop doing that and taking up roster spots and creating a huge IR / NFI list, and get players that can contribute NOW.
Then some of these drafts they may hit on a player more often than not.

One player drafts shouldn't get anything above a D. When it comes time to look at the ones who are still Cowboys next year, only Frederick will be worth a second contract.

I believe Escobar can play. The team is too loyal to Witten to reduce his snaps giving Escobar a legitimate chance to play/produce in the role he was drafted for. I love Witten and what he's done for the team but there is no reason he should be playing 99% of the TE snaps at this stage. It's the same reason why Bennett began to chirp and skipped town. So they drafted a good player but have yet to give him an opportunity to produce.

I hated the Frederick pick in the 1st.. It worked out great.

I didn't like Escobar in the 2nd because I knew we wouldn't get him on the field.. We didn't.

I liked T. Will.. I thought he had more upside than what he has shown but he has been clutch in big games for us and scores TD's.

Wilcox.. i'm really disappointed. I thought he would be a player after what he had shown his first 2 years. He's terrible in space.
