Most of us need voltage.

Medication is completely out of the question.........

In this Draft at 18, RT and/or DT. They are deep.

In the 2nd and 3rd draft a Safety and a Guard/Center. 4th a RB.

For me though it is not drafting the position it is drafting the players. OL or safey or DL I'm sure at 18 there will be one of those position on the board and if the Cowboys are wise which player is picked will be determined by how he grades out.

I would agree OL needs help but do not grab OL for the sake of it, grab the player because he is the best that can help fill a need so if it ends up being a DL or a safety great you got the player who is grading out the best and is also filling a need.

Make no sense passing up better talent just to say you addressed a position

Everything else.

The only reason I go s 1st is because we only have 2 on our roster 1 which missed all the season with an injury and has never played a snap in the nfl. The other is come off injury and hasn't proved himself either.

OL

This unit has killed us the past few years if we want any consistency on offence this has to be addressed. Hopefully we come out of the offseason with a RT and a G. We're a 8-8 at best team until we improve this unit

Safety
This has been a need so long it's not even funny i only put OL ahead of it cause it's holding the entire O back, before all the injuries our D was pretty good even with crap safety play

DL
Changing to a 4-3 need more linemen

RB
Murray is a injury waiting to happen

The off-season is about to be full steam ahead next week with FA kicking off. With some of the moves we made this week, cutting Sensy and tagging Spencer, I'm wondering how this changes how you view our needs and the order of importance.

1. Safety

I really want to put RT or interior OL here and would have no problem with the team spending our 1st to address either, but releasing Sensabaugh has thrown a wrench into this for me. We cannot go into the season with Church coming off an achilles injury and either Matt Johnson/Danny McCray as our plan A at the safety positions. That's a disaster waiting to happen, and as we stand we have the worst Safety situation in the league heading into the off-season. MUST be addressed.

2. C/OG

We re-signed Costa and have Mack and Livings under contract for a few more seaons, so unlike Safety we at least have some insurance policy at the interior OL. But that's not to say we should consider ourselves "set" at the positions. We need to bring in at least 1 guy, whether it's C or OG, to challenge for the job... and preferably it's an upgrade in talent.

3. OT

Free was our worst lineman last season and I don't expect him to return, but luckily we have a possible replacement already on the roster in Jeremy Parnell. But, he's a little bit of an unknown and we could use someone to challenge for the job as insurance policy. Also, it's important in today's league to have a quality swing Tackle off the bench.

4. RB

This is a bigger need than it should be because of the question marks surrounding DeMarco Murray and his ability to stay on the field. He fell in the draft due to durability concerns, and while he's great when healthy, those durability concerns have stayed with him in the NFL. With Felix likely done in Dallas we have the opportunity to bring in another back, but it can't be a "compliment" back... we need to almost plan like Murray isn't on the team. Luckily, starting quality backs can be found after Round 1 and all the way through the middle rounds.

5. OLB

Carter and Lee are entrenched into 2 LB spots, but what are we doing about the 3rd? We've been drafting 3-4 LBs for years and unfortunately guys like Albright and Wilbur are odd fits in this new scheme. Sims or Connor might be an option as a stopgap, but neither are longterm answers at Sam and if we have the opportunity to grab a legitimate starter we need to pull the trigger.

6. DE

Even if Spencer stays for this season, his future is up in the air and we don't have legitimate options to replace him. Crawford lacks the athleticism and quick-twitch ability to be an effective edge rusher, he'll likely slide inside in the new scheme. Outside of Ware and Spencer who are the edge rushers under contract?? It's a critical position in this new D that requires quality depth.

7. DT

A rotation of Ratliff, Hatcher, Crawford and Lissemore is pretty solid but both starters are on the wrong side of 30 and neither would be confused with pro-bowl talent. We're OK there if we don't address it this off-season, but if an opportunity arises where we can land a blue chip 3-tech we need to think long and hard about it.

8. WR

When Dez and Miles are healthy they are a fantastic duo on the outside and Harris can hold his own in the slot. The problem, Miles is hamstung too often and when he goes down we don't really have another WR on the roster who can win consistently opposite Dez on the outside. He also has not lived up to the contract extension and we would be wise to start grooming an eventual replacement. Even if Miles is healthy, he's someone who can slide into the slot leaving another opportunity for an outside WR to step in and make plays. We could use another WR with the height/weight/speed combination of a Dez or Miles.

Hello, Hello, knock, knock is anybody home? Did you see last year with Romo looking up at the sky a lot? Did you see the running game go into the tank? Hello, am I the only one who thinks history will repeat itself if you do nothing? I'm sorry but all these picks with NOT picking the OL with TWO quality OG/C is insane!! I am a firm believer that Defense wins playoffs and Superbowls, but you can not do it when your QB can not play! $17 m a year and never sees the end of the season.

Excellent list but as I see the list little simpler.

OL - In a perfect world, we'd tag two players in rounds 1-3.

Common sense would dictate that S is just as great a need and that third selection, perhaps even at 18 should address that need.

Funny thing is I have a feeling we may very well be set defensively assuming Spencer is retained.

Players return much faster and better from achillies than they have in the past and Church suffered his early on in 2012. And the team seems to really like Johnson....ya I know he hasn't played a down, but this isn't exactly rocket science here. Its football.
Not all that hard to project what a young player will probably be once you've had him in house for a year even if he hasn't seen the field. If you love his smarts. work ethic and athletic ability he's displayed, good chance it'll prob translate to good play on the field. We'll see.

But with all that said, Church and Johnson are large enough question marks to warrant a significant invest in a S.

But after that I think RB is as significant a need as DL, perhaps more.

Call me crazy, but I like what we have at DL. In fact I only see the 1 tech as the real need. I believe that Hatcher can be an excellent 3 tech and would like to see Ratliff also gets snaps in that role.

I love Ware, Spencer and Crawford at DE. But I feel we need an upgrade over Lissemore. I want someone better taking 1 tech snaps from Ratliff to free him up for more 3 tech snaps and much needed rest.

I think Albright wins the SOLB position and plays real well.

No one mentioned QB yet. Some even went 8 positions deep. With all the hand wringing over Romo I'm surprised.

So your dream draft would go something like:
Cooper
Warford
Williams
Faulk
Washington

If you mean to be a winning team, I would say offensive line.

If you mean to win the Super Bowl, I would say quarterback.

I would probably swap #1 and #4.

Perhaps I'm being optimistic but if T and G were addressed, I would be willing to give Costa a shot.

I can't believe I'm actually saying that but with a good G and T in play, I'd do it.

I'd rather upgrade C and G and give Parnell a shot. At least he has the physical frame to hold up in the NFL.

I lean towards this as well.

I am still in the 'Costa is not a starting C in the NFL' camp.

I suggest buying the All-22 film for the offseason, you'll be pleasantly surprised when you see how Costa performed in limited action last year.
