What makes you think McCarthy would or even wants to run the ball more? None of his teams have ever been run heavy.
You're right I don't know.. But McCarthy himself stated on more than one occasion that he never had a back like Zeke in Green Bay. He may also recognize that being too pass happy was a big reason why his teams were unable to stand up to more physical teams come playoff time. And probably why he eventually got run out of town.
But check out these pass run differentials from his better teams:
2010 - 541 pass 421 run +119 (Super Bowl Champs)
2011 - 552 pass 395 run +167 ( 15-1 )
2012 - 558 pass 433 run +125
2014 - 536 pass 435 run +101
2015 - 573 pass 436 run +137
2016 - 620 pass 374 run +246 (yikes)
Now look at the Cowboys
2020 - 639 pass 430 run + 209 (again yikes)
2021 - 647 pass 473 run +174
These two seasons with the Cowboys have exceeded all but one of his seasons in Green Bay in terms of pass run discrepancy. I should also point out that 2016 was his last full season in Green Bay and he was canned in the middle of 2017. So did getting pass drunk help him get run out of town? Hell it almost makes sense to be pass heavy when your QB is arguably the best to ever do it. But Andy Dalton and Dak Prescott need to be handing off almost as much as they throw it. They aint Rodgers.. And even Rodgers never scaled the mountain throwing it at a 65/35 clip. As you can see the Packers best seasons under McCarthy were closer to 55/45. We all recognize that today's game is never going to present a lot of 50/50 teams. But it certainly seems like THIS team functions at a much higher level close to 50/50 than it does 70/30. If we get to the Super Bowl with Dak slingin it 650 times and us running it 400 or less then I will change my tune.. Until then.. I want it closer to 550/450.
