Howard is a good football player. I hoped he wouldn't sign with Philly. That's a good signing.

I'm also hearing rumors the Eagles are contemplating paying Owens the bonus, and trading him. That would be a bold move. I doubt they'd follow through.

TO would love that...What is it ? 6.5 million ?

Then traded to another team and redo the deal ? Another 10 Million up front ?

16.5 million up front money in 1 month is pretty decent.

Eagles have plenty of cap room to absorb the up front hit they would take now. What kind of draft pick would you want for a 6.5 million cap hit ?

If you were another team, what kind of draft pick would you give up for a player you would essentially have to rework the deal with TO anyhow ?

Odds are not good this would happen, but TO would love it !

So if no financial terms were disclosed. How do you know they overpaid ?

Any Howard signing = overpaid

Had read elsewhere he received a $10M Bonus. Will wait for details. Made my day he's not a Cowboy and we get to beat up on him in division!!!!!!!

Go listen to Saints fans on Howard.:lmao2:

Good signing for Philadelphia. This is not the same situation as Dallas' signing Marcellus Wiley in 2004 despite the fact he was washed up with only 3 sacks the prior year.

Howard is young by comparison and in all fairness not many players had good years last year in New Orleans. People forget how good he has been vs. the run during his career, so he's a valuable asset even if he can't regain his pass-rushing form. Remember that Glover as a Cowboy never came close to even half his best year as a Saint as a pass rusher, but he still was one of our best defenders.

I have been reporting TO goes nowhere this week unless traded. But teams won't trade with "expected cap cut" tomorrow.

Well Eagles are $26M under cap with TO's money already accounted for. Lurie and Reid can screw TO - Pay the bonus and now sit back and talk trade turkey. Then trade TO to Siberia and keep him potentially out of division.

Cap hit or Cap savings? ;) Big difference and they were $26M under cap as NFL mandated with TO money fully accounted for.

$5M to screw TO --- HECK, Thats Priceless to Lurie and Reid and they will be hard pressed to find enough qualified players to spend $30M on..... If it buys them a 3rd rounder and keeps him away from Dallas its good business move.

The parallels between the Birds' signing of Darren Howard and Dallas' 2004 blunder with Marcellus Wiley are striking.

Both are/were 29 years old. Both were 2nd round picks. Both were born in November. Wiley is listed at 6-4, 275; Howard at 6-3, 275. Wiley had 44 career sacks; Howard has 44.5 career sacks.

Both made their rep with two double-digit sack seasons -- Wiley with 10.5 and 13; Howard with two 11-sack seasons. Both were coming off down seasons -- Wiley had 3 sacks in 2003, while Howard had 3.5 last year. Both were criticized and benched by former coaches during that season.
Wiley was never heard from again. Howard?

No, it wasn't comic book guy. It was Hank Scorpio. Played by Albert Brooks. He was a guy trying to take over the world, ended up fighting a James Bond-type character....

Anyway, no biggie. Its football season now! Good morning back at ya!

So much for Howard to Dallas - its put to bed.
There's a two edged sword to your statement, waking things up? Geez - that never happens on this board:rolleyes:
You're right, that does happen a lot, usually with you at the centre of it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not about to start one of those annoying 'agenda' posts, but let's not kid each other; you live for the 'I told you so.'
