I have only read very little about his performance since TC started. How is he doing? Does he have a chance to make the team?

From what I've heard there's a great chance he makes the team as a fifth OLB

I assume you jest? I don't see any way the team can carry 5 OLBs on the regular reason roster.

I think Albright is still aheaded of him due to his versatility. So, I think Adrian is going to have to show a little more in the preseason games to make the Cowboys go heavy at that position.

why not? 3-4 teams usually carry 9-10 LB's.

This guy hit the nail on the head

Hamilton isn't going to make this team

Well if you feel that way then it's too early to jump to any conclusion, Albright didn't prove anything last year, granted he didn't get too many chances but Hamilton's athleticism alone seems enough for him to make the team.

For me the case of Albright v. Hamilton can be resolved until the second preseason game at least.

they can do it if they take nine oline.

I am hoping Jerrah doesn't try to sneak him on the PS. Still believe they made a mistake with Eric Walden and he has had a nice career. As of now Hamilton is a one trick pony, but it's a helluva trick.

If Hamilton, who is one of my, "I hope he makes it because I think they'll regret it if he doesn't" players, doesn't make this team he will not be on the practice squad for more than a day. Too many teams were interested in him and actually offered more money for him to go to them, he is only with Dallas despite less money because he is from Texas and he and his whole family are die hard Cowboys fans. I think this guy is going to be special, but I don't evaluate talent either, in saying that this team has given up on some really good prospects and kept some losers for whatever reasons over the years and I hope he is one of the prospects they have enough sense to keep.

albright has the advantage of being able to play both inside and outside. if the cowboys need to go heavy at another position group (ex: cb or oline) then albright gets the upper hand by being able to kill two birds with one stone. that's why I think this battle can go either way but Hamilton will need to show up in the preseason games.

one thing I think helps Hamilton is the emergence of Orie Lemon as a solid candidate for the backup ILB position. if he locks that up then Albright's value of playing inside decreases a bit.

I said Lemon was a player last year, many of us did, of course that notion has been shot down at every corner by the nay sayers of the forum.

Now squeeze my lemon in your mouth untill the juice runs out.

I don't think that the ILB position is as scarce as you make it seem though, Lee has come on as an absolute stud, Pro Bowl Candidate, you bring in Connor who's a strong, smart player also having experience with Lee, and Carter a potential top 10 backer falling to us in the second.

And that's just a list of starters. If Hamilton makes some big plays and shows his speed on the edge rush to be as good as it seems then I don't see the coaching staff taking that over Albright being able to play inside.

With the writing on the wall next season, that this being Spencer's last season in Dallas and the importance of pass rushing OLB's in a 3-4 pressure scheme I could absolutely see us going long at OLB to hedge our bets.

i'm not saying it is scarce. i'm just saying you need four ILB. lee, carter, and connor are locked in. now the team's approach to the fourth ILB position depends on if the team needs to go heavy at another position group, for instance oline b/c of the injuries, then the numbers become tighter and i could then see why they would take albright b/c he can play both positions.

Just read an article posted in the news section that they're trying Albright as a TE. If they keep him on the final 53 as a tight end then that leaves enough room for both, interesting development...

Wow haha, I was literally going to make this thread just now.

I don't think you can let the guy walk. That would be a big mistake. Zero chance he clears waivers to make our practice squad. I think he will show up big time this preseason and we will find a way. It depends how many LBs, how many qbs, OL, WR we decide to carry though I guess.

I agree.

I think that if he shows well enough, how can you not keep him?

Especially considering that this is in all likelihood Spencer's last season in Dallas, the team needs as many replacement options as they can get.

And considering that, unfortunately, McGee isn't showing anything at this stage, there seems little reason to carry 3 quarterbacks.

anybody see any scenarios where wilber doesn't make the team?
