You can blame Garrett and the play calling all you want, but the real reason why we lost is because of our offensive lines inability to generate rushing lanes, numerous holding calls, and numerous false starts. Who is to blame for that? One man. Hudson Houck.

Hudson Houck: Offensive Line/Running Game Coord.

The offensive line penalties and lack of running lanes has plagued this team for years now. The man has been here since 2008 and I don't recall us having a running game since. Plus the offensive line has had a knack of coming up with drive and big play killing holding penalties and false starts. He has had plenty of time to install some discipline, but we have yet to see it. It's a shame, because I feel we have some talented youth on the line, but they will not reach their potential with Houck coaching them up. Neither will the Cowboys offense reach their potential, and neither will the Cowboys entire team. He is also the running game coordinator. I have yet to see any coordination in the running game. It all starts in the trenches folks, and the man running the show in the trenches is not getting it done. It's time for a change here.

I dunno why he's here anymore.

His philosophy revolves around Leonard Davis-like players and Dallas doesn't have any of those any more.

Up until today I have been satisfied with the OL outside of a few bouts against some of the other teams because I can accept a young line getting beaten at times but the penalties are just unacceptable.

If you have players who think are the future and they are getting beat, work through it and come out better in the end. When they start beating themselves before the play even starts, it's time to start asking why someone is allowing this.

the downfall of this team starts and ends with the offensive line.

Congrats on dumbest thread. Here he has two rookies starting on OL and doing a good to great job at times and second year at center playing really good most of the time. Yet we need a thread on bashing Houck.

Oh yeah, if Rb doesn't run for buck fifty and Romo is not even touched the whole game, then only then, Houch is a good coach. If not he is a scrub. Got it.

Congrats on dumbest post. What game where you watching? We had zero running lanes. We have had zero running lanes for sometime now, even last year, and the year before that, before the rookies got here. I like how you just overlook all the drive killing penalties that we've had over the years as well. The players changed, but one thing has been constant; the coach.

Line play this year alot better than it has been in recent years. Further I can live with mediocre play and penalties from rookies than I can with from over paid, under achieving, tubs of lard from the recent past.

Yeah Ok, I guess Houck has been coaching even Bill Parcells years or before, when we had the same issues. You told me. Boy what a great original retort btw. Absolute brilliant and astute observation and analysis too. Who can argue with that impeccable logic.

:lmao2:are you joking?

Personally, I find it real hard to blame the OL coach when we have two rookies and a 2nd year guy, who had never started a game prior to this year, starting for us. The OL isn't responsible for Turnovers or stupid plays that extend drives. I agree that the OL could play better but under the circumstances, you can't expect them to play like seasoned vets IMO.

Again, this isn't anything new. I could see if the Cowboys had limited penalties in previous seasons and saw a spike once the rookies got on the field, but this has been going on for years, before the rookies were here. All we have done is replace the numbers and names on the back of the jerseys but we have seen the same mistakes year after year after year. At what point do you hold the person responsible for getting the O-line prepared accountable?

..HC Garrett. And Jerry Jones is going to also step up for some blame here, too.

To let ALL of the vets go..including an All Pro C in Guerode, a starting RT in Columbo and Bigg as the starting RG ALL at the same time was just nuts.

You just don't do that and then figure rookies and 2-yr. players are going to cut it in the NFL.

It has decimated the running game, left Romo open for broken ribs and punctured lungs and the pass protect has not been good. Way too many times Romo is throwing with people in his face, hitting as he throws..it's a mess.

Yes, Houck is not the best OL coach in the NFL..but he has nothing to work with here.

And bottom line, Jones and Garrett decided to rebuild the OL in a single season..not something a contending team does.

So really, this is clearly a rebuilding year, it's clearer now that 5 games have passed and it started from the top owner and HC and their collective decisions before the season started and Hudson is not to be blamed here.

We've all been overly optimistic and that's not a bad thing. That's what we as fans do.

Unfortunately, we've all just been brought back to earth. What happens now is anybodies guess.

what do you expect, these guys were thrown together for five weeks with no offseason program in the weight room, no OTA's and you wonder why they're making mistakes, this is what I thought they'd be this year..this team isn't going to the superbowl anyway, like it or not, it's a rebuilding year whether Jerry wants to admit it or not. so I'm not going to judge this offensive line this year, they'll be much improved next year, as the defense will and they have shown at times this year of what they could be but it will take time for them to Gel, an offseason in the weight and conditioning program will do wonders for their strength and power in the running game but we need a lead back Jones isn't it

Felix broke a lot of tackles today. Problem was they were at or behind the LOS.

This thread is totally appropriate, Houck should be fired. We have good lineman and backs, he stinks.

even if we have bad linemen, it's still his fault considering he gets significant input on who we keep and let go. there is no ways around the fact houck who is the HIGHEST PAID OLINE COACH IN THE LEAGUE, has been a complete failure in his second tenure with the Cowboys. this isnt the 90s anymore.
