Top pick who started out rough (like most young players) and has come on strong in his recent two seasons. To me that says he had potential and is starting realize it, but isn't a superstar yet so he shouldn't break the bank.

He may or may not continue to develop to be even better than he already is, but you know there's little downside at this point to giving him the shot because he does have NFL production under his belt.

To me, that's where the value is. That's the kind of free agent that you should seek, in my opinion.

Antrel Rolle is far from a superstar, yet he just broke the bank for the Giants. IMO there is no way Huff doesn't ask for somewhere close to that.

the problem is who will get you excited. You can only get players that are available. This draft doesn't excite me with day one starting free safeties. Huff is the best option.

That's fair about not many people available. But that still does not mean I am excited about him.

Again I am not complaining if we get him, just not sharing the love or excitement over him.

And I think because there are a like of quality Safeties out there, we will wind up paying way more than he is worth.

I'm not a Longhorns guy, so I don't fit the where he played profile.

I just think he is worth the gamble. He played pretty fair last year and at one time was thought of as a blue chip player. Maybe similar to Leonard Davis when he first arrived he will come into his own.

And Ware has games with 0 sacks and 0 TFL's.

Ratliff had games where he was completely stonewalled the entire night.

Romo has 2-3 interception nights.

I don't care if he had one bad game. The fact that his stats back up that QB's have a tough time completing passes on him, and that he was a 2nd team all-pro say a lot to me that he has a lot more talent than what we have now.

Nah I'm with you 100%. He's not that good, but better than what we can get, and added in is the hometown factor and fans are going to overrate him a little bit.

While Huff is a bit of a '1 year wonder" to be fair the Raiders badly misused him his first two seasons as some sort of Polamalu roaming enforcer SS. Don't ask me why. They're the Raiders. Likely Big Al didn't want to pay Top 10 draft pick money to a guy who was just plays a lot of single high.

He's got a big name, is a native, and passes the eye test. He's got good ball skills but struggles in run support, even though with him I think it's a matter of wanting to rather than not being able to. Ryan won't allow that. If he does anything while he's here in Dallas, I know he'll get maximum effort from that side of the ball.

My biggest concern from a negotiating standpoint is about how he'll perform after receiving a relatively big deal and how his agent thinks he should get paid compared to Atogwe. He doesn't have the injury concerns, he's got some off the field issues, but I hope he doesn't get an Antrelle Rolle type deal. He deserves something similar to O.J. maybe a few more years, backloaded and 'flashy', but relatively on par with a 2nd team all-pro.
