That's not true. Pro Wrestling was popular long before Hulk Hogan was ever though of. It was just regional.

Back in the days of rabbit ears and five channels, three of which were Canadian, wrestling was the only thing to watch on a Saturday afternoon.

Exactly. If anything it was McMahon taking away from regional that made it huge. Hogan just happened to be the horse they rode to get there. It could have been any number of wrestlers from that era that they chose instead.

I said he was most likely returning. Bischoffs and H2s contract is up in Jan. Maybe writing him off tv.
You also said "so who knows." Kid, you got worked again. This time when it comes time to confess it, don't blow your chance at gaining some respect.

What helped was the Cold War and the All-American, wholesome, never give up Hulkster.......It also helped that he appeared in Rocky III.....Hogan played up to the kids.....made the movies, made the cartoons and that helped to spread the product to the masses.

BTW, Hogan annoyed me. He had like 5 moves. I hated when he Hulked out....but I did love the finger wag. His finisher was one of the worst of all time. Still, he is the guy who took WWF global......

But to me, the best of all time is Flair, along with HBK and Stone Cold....the greatest Big Men of all time are The Undertaker and Andre the Giant.

He may not appear on TNA tv again.. Its not me being worked TNA books to swerve. The swerve is apparent, so they may swerve by making it legit. Thats how russos mental mind works

Squat and watch boy wonder. Maybe you'll learn something that your wrestling forums aren't teaching you.

It drew more before Hogan. NY's WWWF sold old MSG 12 times a yr. Vince wishes that could be done now. It was regional back then, NY, TX, etc

Dude. Professional wrestling was an afterthought across the country pre-Hogan and Vince Jr.

I realize you're probably too young to know what you're talking about here.

Nobody cared about professional wrestling until Hogan put it on the map.
And I realize you're just a casual wrestling fan that was a Hogan fanboy.

Anyone that follows this "sport" closely knows Hogan was a class A d-bag behind the scenes. Refused to put anyone over. From Bret hart, to shawn michaels, to undertaker, to Goldberg. Even the Warrior. That hug and handshake at the end of Summerslam was not planned. Hogan just wanted to look like a good guy.

Read Bret Hart's auto and get a clue. ;)

Oh wait. I was too young to know what I'm talking about

Wrestling was more popular in the 50's & early 60's.

You would find it not only on network TV, but prime-time da boot.

Wrestling has also ebbed and flowed.

In the early 80's it was hitting its stride again. Yes, Hogan was there to add to the excitement and growth, but all the regions were experiencing a rebirth even before Hogan was given the belt... Florida, Texas, Georgia, the Mid-Atlantic area, Mid-South... Just a tremendous amount of excitement everywhere. It wasn't just Hogan, but Flair, the Von Erich's, Bruiser Brody... My gosh, what a great era and an amazing amount of talent and gimmicks.

Andre was Andre... What an amazing athlete (before he went over 500lbs and had the back problem). Calaway is good, I just would never put him above other big men like Bruiser Brody, Big John Studd or Black Jack Mulligan. Ernie Ladd was also one of the very best.

Taker is not that much bigger than Hogan but 100 x's the wrestler Hogan was....

After the steroid allegations came to surface, I was stunned at how small Hogan had become. He was no longer even a "big-man" wrestler.

I was impressed with Mark even when he was in WCW teaming with Dan Spivey.

No love for John Cena? :laugh1:

Seriously, though, I agree with this stuff. Hulk Hogan is the reason I drank milk and ate my vegetables.

Mark hated those WCW days...they told him he would never be a big name wrestler....WRONG!

We use to get CHCH out of Hamilton... Maple Leaf wrestling with Lord Athol Layton, and then later on with Billy Red Lyons.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

Wrestling was a regional thing before Hogan. Mildly popular in spots on the east coast and Canada.

Then Vince Jr. took over, Hogan beat the Iron Sheik and pro wrestling exploded on a national stage.

If you didn't already know this, you don't know the history of pro wrestling.

No. It really isn't. Hogan wasn't the guy lucky to be in the right position. He was the guy Vince selected as the one with the charisma to do it. So he brought him back.

I've heard Vince talk about it many times. Somebody needs to break the news to him that Terry was just along for the ride. He'd love to hear that.
