Hunter Luepke - 8 Snaps

I doubt the fumble is a major issue with Luepke. I think the issue is simply he’s a better blocker than ball carrier. His value is in his versatility to line up all over the field and be decent at everything.

The problem with feeding Luepke the ball even 5-10 times a game is you’re taking the ball out of the hands of better players. You have a better hard/physical runner in Williams and potentially Mafah. I think you’d also rather not waste those designed plays to get guys open in space on Luepke when you can use someone more explosive like Turpin.

Luepke played around 30% of snaps last year, I’d have to think that’s about the ceiling for Luepke unless we see a major injury situation pop up for this team.

I think he would be a good sneak attack player on 3rd and shorter. Dump it off to him over the line and make them tackle him. I thought I heard Mafah was on IR. Do you know if that’s true. Was hoping to see him or Blue out there getting some action. That fumble in red zone killed us against egirls. The drops were killers but the turn over was worse. Can’t do that in close games.

I would mostly agree with you there. I do think Luepke can have a lot of value situationally as a ball carrier. I even think some of those longer 3rd downs he’s good enough to give him a draw or set up a screen to catch defenses off guard. As long as Williams is healthy and produces I think Luepke is going to struggle to get snaps though.

I’m not 100% sure but I believe Mafah is on the IR but designated to return so he should be back at some point.

Someone in the game thread was saying Luepke was on the field quite a bit. I honestly didn’t even see him.

Did anyone watch and notice him do anything? Did he make a block?

Did Jerry give Luepke a big contract extension simply to stick it to Micah? Wouldn’t surprise me at all.

I'm probably higher than most on Luepke and I'm all for him getting some carries because I'd like to know how he looks compared to the other RBs running the ball. Outside of that HL's blocking and receiving is enough of a role for this team.

I for one I'm gonna give this new offense and staff a chance to actually see about 8 or 9 games and see how they work everyone in before we start saying that they're doing something wrong...

Yep I heard that also. He was the big banger I thought could come in and make immediate impact.
