My understanding is that U2 will pay two million for the videoboard to be re-adjusted for the group's stage which they will erect for their October concert.

That's for a concert. The height of the videoboard is set for NFL games played in Cowboys Stadium. The league approved that height. If the height must be adjusted per the league, they should take care of all expenses involved in the undertaking.

personally I don't care what rich guy has to pay for it whether it's Jerry or some top league guy. just raise it so #1 punts don't hit it and #2 so Jerry's pub story dies and we can get back to football.

that's how great Jerry is as a self-promoter

say it's 2 mil to move, and then when someone coffers that much

raise the price

he's just gonna keep raising it, so that it's so exhorbitant, that the videoboard can't be raised, so that it'll keep being talked about, and he'll see his name in the paper every, single day

because he's just this huge egomaniac

and a brilliant self-promoter

I think just raising it 10 feet would probably be enough for all but the most monstrous of punts. Plus, 10 feet on a board that big wouldn't make a noticeable difference in the view for fans I wouldn't think.

Since neither you nor I are paying for any adjustments of the videoboard, we couldn't care less who does what, but that's the point, isn't it? :)

Regardless of what actually happens, this story is here to stay. Should the videoboard be raised tomorrow, people (especially other teams' fans) will be talking about it twenty years from now. It'll only be less in volume and not the lead non-story on SportsCenter. ;)

Maybe they should've purchased a Mitsubishi.

The video board is a Mitsubishi. Or were you talking about the fiasco in the pic you posted?

The latter has SONY plastered on its side. That's why I said that they should've gotten themselves a Mitsubishi instead. :)

Maybe I should've joked about the Burger King sign popping the bolts on that thing instead. :D

I've never seen a story that has so much misinformation.

I think that's why it keeps growing.

The Cowboys issue a news release, but it's vague (on purpose I'm sure).

The NFL won't say much, if anything, officially.

The source on the U2 angle seemed dubious (Al Michaels' favorite word) to me. It was some TV reporter who mentioned it at the end of their report.

Polian obviously was wrong about the punter.

The NFL Network analysts talk vaguely about some rules from 50 years ago, but that contradicts other things we've heard .. that the NFL was intimately involved in approving the stadium.

In the end, I'm sure Goodell will tell Jerry to raise it. Who pays for it is the unanswered question right now.

Either way, the NFL and possibly Jerry should have a news conference and get all the facts out.

It isn't a scoreboard. I wonder how long it will take before the media grasps that in their mad dash to put out a candle fire with gasoline.

Awesome post.

The only games being played are by those protesting the preapproved league height of the videoboard.

Want the games to end?

Ask the league to take 100% responsibility of correcting the 'problem'. 'Problem' solved.

Oh I agree with you, but once Jerruh saw that the regulation height wasn't gonna cut it, he could've made a move to raise it. He'll probably still do that, but I doubt he's hatin' the pub.

The league should take this as a learning experience and change the rule.

I love how the media loves to add "-gate" as a suffix to anything to make it a scandal, completely ignoring the fact that the original scandal in Watergate referred to the office and hotel complex in Washington DC.

Sounds to me that Polian has Big Screen envy here. Maybe he is really jealous that Jerry has this haning in the middle of his stadium and he doesnt. Maybe that's really what is goin on.

Kinda like a guy bragging about his new 36" HDTV he just bought, then goes to a co-worker's house to watch the big game and gets all booty hurt when everybody's jaws drop at the sight of the other guy's 75" Mitsubishi HDTV. While everybody is complimenting the REAL big screen he makes his excuses why he "settled" for the 36"....

Im just saying.......

But how many of you guys think the NFL will make Jerry raise the Screen for the Super Bowl next season?

Two years ago Jerruh had McBriar punting and they used lasers to see how high his punts went. The league regulation is 85 feet. Jerruh decided to go to 90 feet. The league specifically approved that. So if the league wants it moved then they are going to have to pay for it. AND if it is moved above a certain amount then the view of certain seats will be lost. Making those seats worth a lot less. Which could have lawsuits heading the cowboys way= which would then be directed at the NFL. VERY large can of worms here.

Why?

Just to satisfy you and anyone would agrees with you?

The man's been around Big D for 20 years and folks still do not know Jerry Jones.
