IRMA is a Cat 5 now.The gulf waters cooled off since Harvey made it's long, slow path in. I can't see how it hits a 5.

Same thing happened after Katrina. That said, it's better to be panicked and over-prepared than to sit back and assume it's another false alarm.People are already on a full panic. No water on shelves, gas lines are long and people are all stressed to the point of verbally attacking the store owners who are barely able to keep up with the business much less plan ahead for anything. I witnessed one customer berating a worker in a convenience store for not putting a sign out that they were out of low grade. And we are 40 miles inland and 200 miles north of Miami. Go8ng to be a crazy week. I think people, are so scared that what happened in Houston is going to happen here. Maybe this us how you plan for devastation. Got 15 cases of water and cars are full. Not worried about flooding in my yard. Probably the highest ridge in lakeland.everything flows downhill. If water stands in my yard, no need to send anyone to Lakeland. Everone is dead.

Enough hurricanes already. Sheesh.
Making up for lost time..... hasn't been a big one in over a decade.
Glad to hear she's okay!My mom went thru Irma this morning. Said it was an awful experience and compared it to Hurricane Donna.
A lot of water got into the house and the house is elevated at least 3 ft from the ground but she is alright and that is all that matters.

Luckily, rain shouldn't be an issue. Expecting under a foot of rain.
Issue is the wind speeds are too damn high. Not sure I believe the forecasts of the winds dropping to Cat4 when the storm will be entering warmer waters and low shear/little dry air.
So far, better forecasts so far in regards to models/ensembles for Florida. Been on a east shift since last night. The GFS and EURO both see it going on the east coast/off it.
That can all change with so much time left.
Bless you guys and your family's.My mom went thru Irma this morning. Said it was an awful experience and compared it to Hurricane Donna.
