Twitter: Hurts seeing a former Dallas Draft Pick perform like this

Sooooooo, let me get this straight. Mike was drafted in 2019. We were supposed to keep him around while he sucked for 6 years until he finally became a decent player.

Where do you guys get this crapp from?
I don’t even remember the guy playing. But he wasn’t suppose to be kept around. They didn’t keep him and he got cut a few more times and seems to be doing well. It happens. We don’t have to discredit him or Dallas. This is just how the NFL is. We’ve had a few of them…..BW Webb lasted around this league for sometime. Chido is still around.

The league is littered with way more one year wonders than late bloomers who developed into really good players.

Jackson and Wright are more likely to be the former than the latter.
Maybe. But one year wonder is more than I ever thought. I’m still waiting for one year or Caelon Carson….

Doesn’t hurt. Good for him. Probably got the development he needed elsewhere. It happens. Pickens excelled here. It’s just how it goes.

I’ve seen Jackson play and never saw him perform like that but I’m happy for him. What Joe Jackson up to? He was sticking around this league too last I saw.
Do you think we developed Pickens? Or do you think he saw the writing on the wall?

Just proves there are some dummies in the Cowboys front office who truly can't see talent or the potential to grow into talent by some players. I hated when both CBs Mike Jackson and Nashon Wright were not given any playing time in Dallas, then cut. Bunch of idiots throwing such talent away. I have a feeling the same thing is going to happen with Brock Hoffman as it happened with Connor Williams.
I don't think it proves much. But I'm not denying the idiots in the front office part.

It just takes some players time to figure out how to play in the league or get in a situation that fits their skills best. I think every team has them. Denver would have re-signed Javonte Williams if the Broncos had known he'd perform like he did last year. As is, they didn't offer him enough based on how he'd perform the previous two years. Probably an example closer to Jackson for us was Laurent Robinson. He spent two seasons in Atlanta and two in St. Louis before we got him and he took a starring turn for a year. He returned to what he previously had been the next year with Jacksonville. Of course, even Robinson had been better than what Jackson had shown his first seven years in the league. You don't expect a player to find himself that late into his career if he hasn't already.
He figured it out in less than 30 years.

Corner is a super inconsistent position. I'd love to see Jackson and Wright hit their stride and become studs, but CBs just turn it on and turn it off.

This would hurt a lot worse if the Cowboys were the only team to miss on him.

He took a long time to develop. The Cowboys couldn't wait on Mike Jackson when he was here. When he was here he was NOT GOOD. They didn't have a crystal ball to see what he would become seven years later.

As if the cowboys have a history of former players excelling.
QB Jim Zorn

WR Jimmy Smith

LB Mike Walters

TE Todd Christiansen

QB Steve Deberg

G Ron Stone

G Jake Kupp (Cooper's grandfather)

DB Brigg Owens

.....just to name a few.

To be fair, you can't win them all.
