What percent chance would you give the current Cowboys team of going to the Super Bowl IF:

Everyone was healthy (Lee, Murray, Church, etc..)

AND

they could add the following 3 players:

OC Maurkice Pouncey
RG Jahri Evans
WR Wes Welker

Everybody has a 50% chance of winning the SB once they have a record good enough to make the playoffs.

New England went undefeated with the Best QB, and the most physically gifted WR ever, and the best WR playing at that time. That didn't mean they could just win the SB

Nobody should be given anything higher or lower than 50% once they are in the tournament.

Seeding and the first and second seeds:

According to Brian Burke of Advanced NFL Stats(http://www.advancednflstats.com/2011/12/importance-of-playoff-seeding.html), it’s extremely important. In fact, Burke says getting a first-round bye “practically doubles a team’s chance of making it to the Super Bowl.”

Wrote Burke: “The No. 1 seed has about six times the chance of a wild-card team to make it to the Super Bowl. The No. 2 seed has nearly five times the chance. These are enormous differences, and they’re due to seeding effect alone. Right now, the 49ers and Saints are jockeying for the No. 2 seed in the NFC. The loser of that battle will fall from a 29 percent shot to an 11 percent shot at making the Super Bowl.”

Hypothetical question but realistic answer: 1 in 32

First of all, tell me what the chances are of acquiring those three guys plus getting Lee, Murray and Church back healthy this year. What? No chance at all? H-m-m, thought so.

when i say 50 i don't mean literally...i just mean it could go either way.....maybe you could win, maybe not.

I take it statistics was not your strong point?

;)

j/k

Only marginally more than the chance they have now.

Even with better OL play as of late the offense is still struggling to produce.

Players are dropping balls, Ogletree still pisses Romo off because he doesn't know all of his assignments in his 4th year now.

No way to compute. But I did learn something about what gets you to the playoffs and your chances once there.

Nah not at all.

What are you doing on here though? Don't you have a class to teach?

I would say our chances, of course, would be much better but the reality of it all is that Jerry is still the owner and GM so because of that our chances would be about the same as they always are--slim and none.

Wow, hard to get a straight answer. I didn't know the question was that complicated.

I should have said, "would they be a top 5 team?".
