Hypothetical Scenario: What if the Team Moved to LA?

Ok, remember this is all hypothetical. This situation will never ever happen in a million years with the stadium, the big market, the name blah blah blah......I know. Saying that, let's say Jerry Jones and his entire family pulls a Art Modell and moves the team to Los Angeles in the middle of the night. For whatever reason, he agrees to leave the Cowboy's "brand" (logo, colors, history etc...) behind. Let's say Dallas, Fort Worth and Arlington take ownership of the brand. In 2014 we all go a full season without pro football in the Dallas area.

Now, let's say after 1 year Goodell and some area billionaire agrees to create an expansion team in the Dallas/Fort Worth area using the Cowboy's "brand" (think Cleveland Browns). The name, uniforms, and history would remain the same. There would be no changes to the "brand" what so ever. The only differences would be the players (think expansion draft), the coaching staff and the owner.

Would you be open to this? Would you be open to literally starting all over?

You know, it's amazing. I had this same thought this morning drinking coffee. What if he took the team to LA. It's the only way to get rid of him at this point other than the inevitable and I don't wish that on anyone but nothing will change until he is gone.

He'd take the brand and logo with him though, that's who he is.

Leave the Logo and brand behind.............we would basically be like the Browns after the "old Browns" became the Ravens.................I could live with that.

Hell yeah! Cowboys fans need a fresh start after the past 17 years. I am more than ready for a change, being a Cowboys fan currently is the worst team to be emotionally invested in. As much as I love them for their contributions the past years, I know I am not the only one sick of the Romo, Witten, and Ware core. Don't even get me started on Miles Austin.

I'd not only be open to the team moving to LA with a different owner but I'd welcome it with a sigh of relief. As much as that scenario may be appealing right now, I seriously doubt it'll happen. Jerry and his lot will surely be perfectly content to remain in Dallas and thereby continue to curse Texas indefinitely with their total ineptitude.

So we really do root for the laundry, huh? This scenario would confuse the hell out of me. Is the new team in LA my "Cowboys" or the team upstarting in Arlington? Obviously the current players would move to LA with the current franchise, so guys like Witten, Romo, Dez, Lee, etc. would be on that team. I still love those players despite what is happening right now. It would pain the hell out of me to go a season without a team with that star on the helmet and I'm not sure I would feel a connection to the new "Cowboys." I sure as hell couldn't relate to the LA team. And who knows how long it would take the expansion team to be successful? Or it they ever would? And what if the new LA team experiences success, but the "Cowboys" don't? Case in point, Baltimore vs. Cleveland. It would be a sad day with mixed emotions.

I'm not going to root for the LA Cowboys, that's for sure.

This is a great hypothetical, but then if you think about it there is no way it ever happens.

Jerry Jones honestly believes he made this brand and it is making him richer every day.

But if the Dallas Cowboys were to exist as the Dallas Cowboys, then I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the team that moves to LA, for they would clearly not be the Dallas Cowboys. But you must have known I was not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the team that moves to LA, since the team that I root for in front of me would remain in Dallas, to become the Dallas Cowboys. It's inconceivable to root for the LA team, when in fact all the players for which I root for now, would be on that team. But alas, the Dallas Cowboys would be reborn as the Dallas Cowboys in Dallas. Therefore, I would be forced to root for them, and Jerry Jones would be the GM, but I can clearly not root for them.

My name is Inigo Montoya. I am confused.

He didn't make the brand, but he sure as heck is getting richer every day. Jerry Jones chose the perfect team to purchase as far as exposure. He couldn't have done this with any other organization. Teams like Green Bay and Pittsburgh have large fan bases, but no flash. He would've been ran out of town in those places. Dallas was the perfect place because they're so used to their team being glamourized that Jerry was able to make a smooth transition to the team. He almost bought the San Diego Chargers at one point. I doubt he would be a household name if he had.

I know that. You know that.

But I can all but assure you that Jerry Jones thinks in his mind that without him, the Cowboys would be a in state of ruin.

Jerry Jones would take the brand name he turned into a juggernaut with him. You'd have the Dallas Horseriders of the Dallas Desperados or something.

It be the same situation Houston had. I don't know man.
