2. Dallas Cowboys

Oh, like you weren't thinking about it already, Cowboys fans. If the Cowboys fail to go deep into the playoffs this year, there will certainly be talk about replacing Tony Romo, right or wrong. The Dallas offense is pretty great as is, but imagine if Peyton Manning got to work in that same offense. Do you think Peyton Manning misses that throw to Miles Austin that would have finished off the Giants on Sunday night? Manning would get Austin, Dez Bryant, a Hall of Fame tight end, a pass-catching running back, and a pure runner to go with two young, talented tackles. That would be the best offense in football, Packers be damned. The only problem is contractual; the Cowboys would have been able to deal Romo very easily under the terms of his old deal, but they renegotiated his deal in September to turn his base salary into a signing bonus spread over multiple cap years. In addition, if he's traded before 2013, his contract is automatically extended to 2016. So while the Cowboys might be able and willing to acquire Manning, they might struggle to get rid of Romo.

I think this is stupid to even talk about it, but Barnwell is right in that it's going to coming up. The Cowboys aren't going anywhere this season. It's no fault of Romo, but the guy is seriously taking lumps for what happened on Sunday. It's getting to the point that it might be best for all in involved that the Cowboys and Romo part ways. At what point does Romo become a lame duck quarterback, if he's not already?

It's not happening, but even it did Manning is aging and with this offensive line I really don't think he will last long.

The Colts have rarely put talented OLs in front of Manning recently either. He gets the ball out of his hands quickly. Look at how many sacks and hits the Colts QBs have taken this year. You'd be hard pressed to believe they're the same OL that played with Manning.

Yes. Once again, Romo is not the problem with this team.

Manning would break his neck just scanning all the free rushers.

Obviously, Romo is not the problem, but that's not the point. The world at largely seemingly sees him that way. You have to wonder if the team perceives him the same way, which would be mighty ironic, but a valid question.

I don't think anyone with any modicum of football intelligence thinks of him that way. The problem with "the world at large" is that very few people fit that criteria. There may be members on the team that do not fit that criteria either, but I doubt it's enough to cause a problem.

I think Peyton Manning is the best QB I have ever seen. But yes, I would be opposed to him coming here. The salary he commands would cripple this team and is what has put him out of commission. Teams have to cut better and better talent to fit salaries like that under the Cap.

Which is yet another reason why I appreciate Tony Romo and am pleased he is our QB.

Almost everyone who is not a Dallas fan and about half of Dallas fans think he's the problem. ALL of these people aren't dumb.

my friend pulled up this exact same article the other day..he said it would be a great move by the cowboys..I IMMEDIATELY shut down the notion...I defended romo and stated that Romo was not the problem on the Cowboys..I went as far to say that Romo was the reason the team was even as good as they are..

my friend then made a great point..he said it isnt a matter of whether romo is the problem or not..he said peyton manning would be an upgrade (which you cant really argue, as long as hes healthy) and all these close games we continue to lose, all of a sudden peyton would be winning these games. Peyton is also a coach on the field, the debacle no TO call in AZ probably doesnt happen with Pyeton running the offense. and if you take into account how good the colts are with manning and how bad they are without manning, one can only wonder how good this team would be with arguably the smartest player to ever play the game leading the team..

It is definitely something worth thinking about..most of us absolutely love Romo, and I do too..but after putting my feelings to the side and thinking about what is better for the franchise as a whole, it becomes a legitimate discussion..

put your feeling aside..and actually think about it..

Yes they are. Romo is not the problem. He's been playing spectacular this season. The problem is the defense and offensive line are just not good enough

Indianapolis was a perennial playoff team - exit Payton Manning= bottom of the gutter.

What did we learn from this? That Payton Manning had no defense, no receivers, no special teams, no coaching, no offensive line. How did he manage to win.

I'd take Manning in a heart beat. He's almost a choke artist, but he did however win a Super Bowl and you can't be considered a choke artist if you win a Super Bowl. So hell yes I'd take him. Broken neck and all.

Some aren't dumb, but most are. The rest are just uninformed and are willing to speak authoritatively while being uninformed.

Sam was not selling his dope to the players- its going to the fans.

Payton won a Super Bowl and people would rather have a systematic loser than a proven Super Bowl winner. People like to throw out the term "dumb", seems to me like if you truly were a fan and wanted to win, you'd get a proven winner. That sounds smart to me.

It's probably not happening, but how could you NOT at least entertain the notion?

We would be adding the greatest QB of his generation (and arguably of all time). We would also be adding the kind of leader and locker room presence that this team is begging for.

Not to mention that Manning is going to have a chip the size of Texas on his shoulder next season.
