I’ve lost interest in the NFL and the Cowboys

Honestly I’ve been jaded for sometime now, certainly not invested as I used to be.

Me too. Its called growing up. I used to be the kid who would miss school on mondays after a tough loss. I was physically ill over this thing.
I grew up. Had 3 children. Lost my brother, lost my grandfather, close to losing my father, lost pets, lost a relationship, lost a great job........
Now after life happening you realize not to get too emotional over losses. If the thrill of victory is dull compared to the agony of defeat then what you have is an unhealthy obsession.

I never realized how many people on here are so insecure. I stated how I felt and asked if anyone else felt that way. Some responded and said they felt that way too. It was a simple question but some decided to attack me and told me to leave. All for asking a question. So tell you what. I don’t need this aggravation. If you “real fans” thought that was good football last night, then keep your rose colored glasses on and living and dying with this team. I’ve got more important things going on in my life than basing my mood on how the Cowboys did.

I do, still get very excited and pumped up when they win and win big games though.

And I loved watching football all day yesterday. It was great. Looking forward to 16 more weeks of it.

There are other aspects to consider. Game day is like a national holiday. You just tell the wife or gf it is game day. No mowing the lawn, going out to eat, or being taken to the mall.

I’ve been right there on the verge for several years now. I was all in thinking I would see a totally different product last night but it was more of the same except with a inexcusable 4th quarter decision not to tie the game. I still can’t figure out how you can change an entire coaching staff and roll out the exact same product. If they pay Dak without him playing much better than he did last night on a sustained basis and for entire games, then I’m 100% out.

Well said. I was excited to watch the game last night, but I saw the same product under MM that I saw under JG.

I've definitely lost overall interest in sports.

My kids are growing up and I rather spend time with them when I'm home.

Sunday/Monday night games are nice in that regard where they are asleep when the game is on.
1/4pm games are tougher to sit through, but I'm not going to sacrifice their time for sports.
Still love talking about the Cowboys, and other teams, they just got knocked down a few notches on importance as I got older.

The quality of the product on the field is decreasing. Too many game changing/defining calls by refs, and too many flags period. Far too many rules favor the offense.

Dallas is exhausting to watch because they usually lose (as they did again last night) through inconsistent play marred by mental mistakes and missed opportunities.

I think a lot of us are sick of seeing them struggle with the same problems week in and week out, and fail to learn and improve. They have stagnated and seem to have accepted mediocrity. The whole situation is frustrating for sure as there appears no end in sight.

We got our hopes up that MM would bring a different culture. So far the early results are discouraging. Not ready to give up on the season and I will always be a fan— but I hate watching them play when they have their collective heads up their backsides lol

I don't know why that triggers people. Seemed like an innocent comment to me. For me, I can more easily shed the loss that I used to. Especially with everything going on, I'm not letting it ruin my day. At least the Eagles lost to that dumpster fire. That brought me some joy.

That's exactly how I felt. I loved seeing Pro football again all day yesterday. And sure it sucked that we lost, but I was surprised at how well I took it at the end of the night. Win some, lose some. Hopefully, a lot if things get better and this team wins more. If not, my life is still great and it will go on. Perspective.

I think there are Browns, Bengals, & Lions fans that feel the same way. Give the OP a break. 25 years is a long time to go without a div playoff win. That is tough for us Cowboy fans that demand excellence from an organization that has failed to produce excellence for a quarter of a century. The result is fans losing interest, real fans who have stuck by this team in thick and thin. Real fans also lose interest when the owner never tries anything different (i.e., the owner remains our gm, hc, etc even with the same subpar results).

BTW, last night looked like more of the same because we have a green, unqualified off coordinator and another hc with little to no power. Everyone answers to the Jones boys, not our hc. Nothing has changed, but the titanic deck chairs have been rearranged and the titanic has received a new coat of paint.

Also keep in mind, real Cowboys fans hold this team to the same standard of excellence that has been used since the Landry and Jimmy eras. After all we are the great 5-time Super Bowl champions Dallas Cowboys and we should be held to the highest standard in sports. Anything less is admitting that the Jones boys have conditioned fans to accepting mediocrity where 25 yrs is acceptable for not playing in the NFC championship game.

Because I am a fan. I just said that it wasn’t life and death to me anymore and asked if others felt the same way. If you want to have your life centered around this football team, go right ahead. It’s your choice just like I made a choice. People still get to do that, don’t they?

I understand how you feel. Im a fan for 50yrs Im starting to feel the same way. For me its a few things. I dont want to get suspended from here but one of them is at the start of games. Really tired of that. The second is that the game has changed so much over the years with penalties and the extra protection to QBs the refs have to much outcome in games. Than you have the same story with us year in and year out. Garrett being here 10 yrs when anyone could see he wasn't the guy and wasting years of talent of not even sniffing a Championship game gets old after awhile. Look at the Company we are in. I believe Dalls, Detroit and Cleveland are the only teams in the past 25 yrs to not reach a Championship game. I still watch and always will but I do understand what your saying.
Dont mind these other posters that give back idiot answers, remember some of these guys are just young kids and others are tough guy keyboarders who have no voice anywhere else except places like this. The world has become a different place on many ends. Football is a great escape from life for 3 hours but with all thats going on in the world its not unusual to feel how you do.

Same with me. I used to call out from work on Monday when I was in my 20s. A loss ruined my week. I think it has to do with expectations. We've grown accustomed to disappointment. I was able to shed the loss to Green Bay in 2016 much better than I did the playoff loss in 2007. But right now? I come to expect 8-8 so a loss doesn't have much impact on me.

Thats what I tried yesterday. Until it found myself mid way through the first quarter of the Eagles game trimming the bushes in front of my house.

I am willing to give Mike more time. He had almost no off season. It’s going to take time.

It’s reasonable to assume that all new coaches with no off season is going to cause some growing pains.
