1. I think the only reason we played 20 yards off was to adapt to anthony henry because he cant play man cause hes slow.

this improves our secondary IMO

2. Jon kitna jus threw for back to back 4,000 + yd seasons 2 yrs ago...
especially on a bad team.

3. Jon kitna is wayyyyyyyyyyy better than brad..... and is better than BB

4. Brooking was a good pick.
- it was cheap
- he got 100 tackles + last season
- hes an upgrade over zach. IMO and heres why. zach was aging. and he is VERY VERY small. I would often see zach getting blocked all the time.
- Brooking is bigger
- I dont believe burnett was worth the money hes going to get especiially since we had him i think for 5 seasons and he hasnt started and he cant seem to stay healthy

5. SO i think we fixed 3 problems with 2 cheap signings

If anyone knew what type of money Burnett was worth it would be the Dolphins.

I like the signing so far as well.

We didn't break the bank for either player, and they should be good complementary pieces of the overall puzzle.

Most importantly, it gives us a bit of flexibility in the Draft.

We still need to draft another ILB and a QB, but we don't have to force the issue.

Finally, I hope we can pick up one DL in FA and one Safety, assuming RW is cut/traded.

maybe I am confused, but I dont remember anyone playing 20 yards off and I dont really remember henry being the guy playing off, it was always the other side if I remember correctly.

and again here is the cowboys fan talent level meter going crazy.

5 minutes after guys leave here the fans downgrade their ability and talent about 50%.

Jerry doesn't get a lot of apologies for drafting that RB from Arkansas that 95% of Cowboy fan hated.

Or ANOTHER TIGHT END in the 2nd round.

Henry has always played with a lot of cushion. But Pacman Jones, Jenkins, and Scandrick were giving a lot of cushion as well. I think the reason why they played so much cushion is that it IS part of Wade's scheme. I think Brian Stewart probably fell a little too in love with the Cover 4 and then trying to mix up zone coverages against opposing teams. Plus, there probably was a lack of trust in 2 rookies and Pacman who had been away from the game for over a year. Jenkins and Scandrick really seemed to get it the second half of the season.

should I?

I remember it as the other side being off most of the time.

I also remember hearing newman tell laufenberg on his tuesday night show that he was campaigning wade to allow him to press on his side, but stewart and wade wouldnt do it because of the zone blitzes they were running, he said it was too dangerous.

they all played off, I just remember henry as the year went on not being a mile off like they all were early.

thats a fair point actually, sat at celtic park many a time listening to players getting uncalled for stick from the stands just because they're the current scapegoat.

When I saw Kitna had been signed my mind went back to one of the Detroit games from the previous season, think it was the Thanksgiving game where he threw five or so picks. During the last one being run back for a TD he has helmet off, back to the play, and was walking off the pitch before it was over. I was all like "Jaysus I'd hate for him to be on the team I support, what a bad attitude". Now I'm all -

Kitna is on the downside of his career. He might still have something in the tank, but this guy always finds a way to lose. I also think he lacks character. And 99% of the QBs are an upgrade over Brad Johnson.

Brooking had his worst season as a Falcon last year. He is on the downside of his career aswell. I don’t understand why we keep using stop gaps. I say start Barbie Carp, let him get his butt beat up and if he can’t hang, let him go. Why not resign Burnett? Wasn’t like he signed a huge contract with Miami.

Henry was going to be let go because of his contract, that was a given. I don’t see why everyone thinks that was a good move...duh! The best move would be to have him as a backup corner with a restructured contract.

The Cowboys are damned if they do, damned if they don't. When we re-sign our own players, people complain that we are getting too old at each position. When we bring others in, they find something wrong with that too, no matter how old the player is. I loved it in the past when the Cowboys never stood pat and were big players in free agency, but a lot of those acquisitions didn't pan out too well [Zach (so-so), Henry (serviceable), the O-lineman who injured his back (the name escapes me), RW11 (trade - jury still out]. People have complained about every one of them as well. I guess we'll have to wait and see how it all pans out just like every other fanbase.

Henry's skills were declining and he couldn't stay healthy. A one armed, old, slow derrick mason abused him. He wasn't as bad as some say but I thought Ball out played him when he was in there.

Its because many fans and media think its simple to have 22 starters who are all 26 years of age in the prime of their career at good value.

Where do you people get this stuff? Worst season with the Falcons? He led them in tackles. HE LED A PLAYOFF TEAM IN TACKLES!

His numbers were SLIGHTLY down last year... probably because of the new defense brought in by the new coach. He's had 100+ tackles EVERY season for the last 8 seasons. More importantly, he's started all 16 games in those last 8 seasons.

The only veteran who is available, want to be a backup that would be a better option then Kitna is Garcia but we all know that wasnt happening. I have no doubt he is capable of stepping for Romo in a pinch and winning a few games. This was a good trade all the way around.
