Yeah, he should just be a lame mouthpiece.

BTW - does anyone remember the monday night game when Troy did exactly what Drew did on the last play? It was a division game but I can't recall against who.

1996 Philly at home. Once again, Irvin made a big play downfield, but could not get past the 1 yard line. He didn't have a great nose for the endzone. Dallas had a chance to win. Aikman tried to Tiji Armstrong in the endzone and it was interecepted. There is the big difference. Tiji Armstrong?

Aikman only had Irvin as a receiving threat that season. Irvin was great, but there were no other receiving weapons on that team. Kelvin Martin was back for Dallas, but that was his last NFL season. Kevin Williams was no good. Stepfret Williams and Billy Davis probably wouldn't even make other teams rosters. Eric Bjornson proved to be a poor mans Rob Awalt. Aikman screwed up, but it wasn't as if he had great choices. Bledsoe had T.O., Glenna and Witten on the field.

Does anybody else realize that everytime our Cowboys play,Troy finds away to bash them.I think he is just angry because he is strapped in the booth with Buck.
He has nothing to say but negative things.I think maybe if he talked good about the cowboys he may have had his booth rolled, and Joe Buck is right along with him bashing the boys.
Why can't he just be homer and admit it like Irvin does.He is so phoney anymore.

I like Aikman as an announcer. He does a good job for the most part. My only criticism of him yesterday was that on one play he made a big deal of T.O. being covered by only one guy when it was obviously no the case. There was a linebacker dropping giving underneath help and a safety providing deep help on that play.

I thought Joe Buck was going a little overboard on trying to portray T.O. as a disruption on the sidelines. There really was no way of telling what T.O. was saying and his attitude on the sidelines looked no worse than what I ever saw of Keyshawn Johnson in Dallas. I also like Joe Buck. The Fox team is one of the best and I would be happy if they did more Cowboy games.

Maybe it has to do with the fact that, in every game Aikman broadcasts, we manage to lose the game through mental mistakes, missed assignments or penalties. Maybe this shows Aikman what kind of a team we are and he is reporting what he sees.

:hammer: Exactly right!

Aikman works for FOX, not the Dallas Cowboys. If you want a homer report on the game then go to www.DallasCowboys.com and read Mickey Spagnola's recap.

Troy is paid to be objective and call what is going on on the field, not what some fans want to hear. I actually WANT to hear his views on what is wrong with this team because I respect his opinion and objectivity.

I guess some of you would rather have a Cowboys' version of Joey Theezman or Sonny Jurgensen who paint everything their former team does in a positive light no matter how terrible they actually are.

I can guarantee you that when we start playing better Troy's comments will be more positive. I want the truth not some whitewashed homer BS (I can do that on my own thank you).

Everytime Troy calls a game the
Cowboys Lose and a Kitten Dies.
I point the blame to you Mr Mean Aikman.

I think Aikman suxs as a color commentator...better suited for play by play I think...but his comments about the boys don't bother me...I just find him very, VERY boring...he starts speaking and I start yawning..his insights are usually worthless...I just don't find he brings anything to the table that couldn't be very easily replaced...and Buck thinks he is the color guy sometimes...I wouldn't be opposed to letting these 2 call high school games somewhere...they are just awful

Aikman also had a wide open lane to WALK into the endzone and win the game.

I didnt care for his comment in the 3rd quarter that the Eagles were dominating and he thought the Cowboys were lucky to be so close. I was wondering what game he was watching and what his personal agenda is. He must not want to look like a "homer" and doesnt have the brains to know it is better done subtly.

Maybe it's just me, but didn't that Aikman feller once play for the Cowboys? I seem to recall him being in a cup'la big games televised on TV, called the supa-bo? Now, I'm not sure of this, but if any of that is true, it might just possibly be that he has a keener eye for talent, skill and competition than some of us wanna-be QB's.

Sure we want to hear him cheering for the 'Pokes, like Don Meredith used to do on MNF, but Meredith had a reason to cheer. The Cowboys have been a monumental embarrassment since Aikman cleared out his locker.

Troy's comments were dead-on yesterday. The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game in almost ten years. What do you expect - compliments?

As an announcer, Troy can't live in a state of delusion...even if some members of his old fan base are permanent members there.

I'm not sure I know what you mean...the Eagles did dominate the 3rd quarter...we entered with a lead and left behind...We'd turned the ball over again and again and gave them points...Bledsoe was terrible, as was the OL, and the defense was getting scorched for big play after big play...

So....weren't we lucky to still have the game in reach?

You know, the board has grown tremendously, and I'm happy for that, happy to see the younguns too, but it seems to me homerism has grown more and more ridiculous here since BP arrived, and I don't refer to the particular guy in this thread, but the constant excuses for any Cowboy who plays poorly.

We are a vastly improved team, but we are still far from being an elite team because we still have issues at OL, QB, and safety from time to time...when you don't have a genius OC or a guy like Philly does coaching and designing things for your defense, then you better have your guys play consistantly when on the road or you're going to struggle to win those games.

I wish we had a real OC and while I like Zimmer, I wish we had a more creative attack-minded DC.

I don't mind the arguments among the team players and coaches. Although I think it normally goes to the extreme in the pro/con side of things.

However the Aikman is a hater stuff just kills me. Some of the same people who complain about Theezman being a homer are the same ones that complain because Troy is not.

it probably kills him to the his former team struggling. That and he is probably thinking about all the things he could be doing if he had TO as his receiver!

First off, I think Aikman does a great job broadcasting the games, and if Fox didn't think so too they wouldn't give him all that money.

Second, even though I'm a life long Cowboys fan, I think it was ridiculous how the fans treated Aikman at the end of his career with us. You would have thought that he had earned better than the boos he received when he was trying to play through a bad back that would have kept most QB's on the sideline. So, this idea that YOU love the Cowboys and TROY doesn't is just nonsense.

Third, I think Aikman doesn't come to any game with a bias in any direction, and that includes a bias in favor of the Cowboys. He thinks (rightly) that his job is to cover the game as if he never played for the Dallas Cowboys. I think THAT is what bothers a lot of people. They WANT him to be rooting for Dallas.

Finally, every time he said a positive thing about the Cowboys yesterday I thought about threads like this. I wish now I would have taken the time to write every one of them down because there were plenty. If all you heard were negative statements yesterday, you just had you hyper-sensitivity button turned on.

A couple that stood out to me were:

-When Bledsoe made some play (I forget now what it was) Aikman said, "That is the sign of a good QB, he does..."

-He complimented Dware numerous times

-He is always complimentary of Bill Parcells

-He said he considered the Dallas secondary to be in the top 3 of the NFL

And those are just the few I can remember at this moment.

I think Aikman is worried about people saying he is being pro-cowboys for obvious ties, so he is going out of his way to make sure people don't say that.

I wish you had done that. Not that it would be accepted. I just think it would be funny to see the spin control.

I'm going to do it next time he covers the Cowboys, Hos, I just want to see what people say? I guarantee you they don't even acknowledge the positive things he says every single time he covers our game.
