When I look at numbers I see 6 players who can play DE right now on this team.

How I rank them - position/age
1. Lawrence, Demarcus (RDE/LDE) (23)
2. Mayowa, Benson (RDE) (24)
3. Thornton, Cedric (LDE) (27)
4. Jack Crawford (LDE) (27)
5. Irving, David (RDE/LDE) (22)
6. Gregory, Randy (RDE) (23)

Dallas is quietly building a young DE rotation. With rookie DE usually not contributing much the first year I no longer view it as must pick @4. Are we back to BPA at four?

This is a young developing rotation at DE. It wouldn't even surprise me if Dallas doesn't take single DE in draft. Let Rod Marinelli bring out the man in all of them and see where this goes. Rookie DE rarely have impact their first year.

I agree.
Though it wouldn't surprise me if they do take one, at least I don't think they feel forced to do so.
That's a young group.

If the league comes to its senses on marijuana, we'd be in a good spot. Really stupid to ban it when it is pretty effective for pain management and legal in a number of states

I hope they take advantage of this drafts depth and talent at DT. The DL will start to get better with talent no matter the position.

I'd say Crawford or Gregory is the second best end on this team. Surely not the ones you listed. Two of them are tackles and benson isn't very good lmao

So, you're not convinced because we have 3 DEs who are rotational guys and a guy we brought it to replace Hayden? I'm not following.

We shouldn't confuse bodies with quality depth. Dallas still lacks quality at DE.

You have one player on that entire list that has proven he can pressure the QB - Lawrence. And he only did that for one year and is coming off a back injury.

Thornton isn't a DE. I know Dallas says he can play some DE but that's likely in situational packages. He's a DT and a good one at that but he's not a threat from DE.

Crawford, did he resign? I thought he was still out there looking for deals?

Mayowa is a total project. Gregory is a total project. Irving is a project.

Not saying you have to go DE at 4............. but taking a DE early in this draft isn't something they can ignore because they have a great rotation at DE. They do not.

I think it'll be the stupidest thing in the world to pass on bosa. He is a top 5 player in the last 5 drafts. He is the complete package. Would be a solid end for us for many many years. The only player that would be an exception is Ramsey. If they don't get bosa it better be Ramsey! If they pick at 4 and get Elliot I think it will be so stupid especially the glaring holes on the d line and the crop coming out next year. Possible 4-5 rbs with first round talent coming out next year. Get by with McFadden and Morris this season. Cut McFadden after season and draft rb next year. Fournette, nick Chubb, dalvin cook, mcafferey, the list is endless for
Rbs next year!!! Don't continues to be morons Dallas!!!

Mayowa couldn't even break in with the Raiders and all of a sudden he's going to turn into a sack machine?

No offense, but this is the most optimistic outlook one could have for our DE situation as it currently stands. I mean ridiculously optimistic. Two of the guys on the list will probably more DT than DE as well (Irving and Thornton).

I will make bet right now that Mayowa would get more sacks than Bosa with Cowboys - their 1st year.

It doesn't matter what you think he might get his first year. It's about ceiling level, it's about if Dallas believes Bosa can become a double digit sack guy in the future. It will come down to these players if they are there: Ramsey, Jack, and Bosa. If they have Bosa at BPA, they are not passing on him because of Mayowa.

I think your setting yourself up for failure because if Jack medicals check out I think Dallas takes him before Bosa. I am not down on Bosa but certainly not drinking hype that you are. If we are being honest the only position not addressed this offseason is QB. Thats why I am increasing thinking thats Dallas pick. It resolves two problems at once: 1) starter post-Romo 2) back-up QB in '16

How much faith and trust do they have in Randy Gregory? If they trust him to overcome these issues then they would be using the 4th overall pick in the draft on a guy who will be a rotation player/backup. Or they used their 2nd rounder in 2015 on that player.

thats weak Matt. Tells me you don't stand behind what you think. But I do agree that non of FA signings prevent Dallas from doing anything. I stand by my bet.

What? I'm not the one drafting. Even if I was, the guys you listed outside of Gregory are not going to have me skipping over a top 5 talent like Bosa. I only say Gregory because he has upsdie, but even then, I am just hoping he becomes a decent rotational guy.

And I thought your entire point was, the Cowboys logic now is they have enough guys on the roster at DE to skip drafting one in the first? I'm saying, no, if Jones and our scouting department likes Bosa he will be wearing a star next year.
