I am no longer convinced Dallas drafts DE

We shouldn't confuse bodies with quality depth. Dallas still lacks quality at DE.

You have one player on that entire list that has proven he can pressure the QB - Lawrence. And he only did that for one year and is coming off a back injury.

Thornton isn't a DE. I know Dallas says he can play some DE but that's likely in situational packages. He's a DT and a good one at that but he's not a threat from DE.

Crawford, did he resign? I thought he was still out there looking for deals?

Mayowa is a total project. Gregory is a total project. Irving is a project.

Not saying you have to go DE at 4............. but taking a DE early in this draft isn't something they can ignore because they have a great rotation at DE. They do not.

We have bodies. Now we need players so Thornton and Irving can play the positions they are best at and that's inside

If this is our crew for 2016, we will struggle again to rush the QB.

When I look at numbers I see 6 players who can play DE right now on this team.

How I rank them - position/age
1. Lawrence, Demarcus (RDE/LDE) (23)
2. Mayowa, Benson (RDE) (24)
3. Thornton, Cedric (LDE) (27)
4. Jack Crawford (LDE) (27)
5. Irving, David (RDE/LDE) (22)
6. Gregory, Randy (RDE) (23)

Dallas is quietly building a young DE rotation. With rookie DE usually not contributing much the first year I no longer view it as must pick @4. Are we back to BPA at four?

I've been saying for months, our issue at DE is lack of proven veterans. We have a lot of young potential. Gregory and Lawrence can be the best DE duo in the NFL. Or Gregory can be out of the league and Lawrence can be average to slightly above. But the potential is there. Drafting a rookie DE only adds to our dilemma. What we lack is a proven guy at DE. Our most proven guy just started getting the hang of things in the 2nd half of last season.

That's basically who's the tallest midget contest.
None of them are forces that other teams fear.

If the league comes to its senses on marijuana, we'd be in a good spot. Really stupid to ban it when it is pretty effective for pain management and legal in a number of states

You'd think that's the least they could do knowing that this game is causing much more damage to the players than weed ever could.

They'll draft Nkemdiche if he is there at 34.

it's a weak DE class true but that doesn't mean they'll pass on all DE's.
They'll draft both DT and DE IMO

If we add Jason Jones to that list does that move any ones DE end need needle?

That would give us one good DE that is coming off of back surgery, a solid but unspectacular LDE in Jones, a potential stud that is also one fun night from a very long suspension, and a number of projects. (I am considering Thornton as a 1/3 tech and British Craw primarily as a 3). Maybe it would move the need from a 1st or 2nd round to a small school 3rd or 4th round prospect like Blair or Judon? Just thinking aloud.

They definitely will take a DE somewhere in this draft but I am not convinced it will be at 4.

One thing about this draft. I'm not convinced of anything. This is a strange draft because there are so few super stars but lots of good prospects.
