My history as a poster here is well-known. I am generally an optimist, particularly the last few years when I felt we had the talent to make noisein the NFC and possibly even the Super Bowl.

But what I saw this past Sunday disturbed me greatly.

We were ill-prepared, sloppy with the football, and whenever we had the opportunity to get back in the football game we shot ourselves in the foot with fatal penalties missed fgs, turnovers, sacks allowed, etc... You name it, we screwed it up. Brad Johnson is nowhere near Romo's LEAGUE and he lacks the ability to bring us back from a moderate sized deficit. Hell, Brad looks worse than Vinny ever did.

We need Tony if we are going to do anything of value this year. I hope we see him starting next week vs. the Bucs.

This team has looked progressively worse since the Green Bay game. A lot of tis falls on the head of the Head Coach. Wade Phillips may have lost this team. I desperately want to believe he hasn't, but the evidence in favor of that is mounting week after week. I don't know if he has what it takes to get us through this rough patch. Even if he does get us back to the playoffs, I don't know how much postseason success he can lead this team to. I so want to be wrong on this account. I like Wade, I really do.

IMO, if we lose the next two, Wade is out as HC. No question imo. It wouldbe near-criminal not to fire him in that case.

What needs to happen in that scenario is Jason Garrett to be named interim HC . There are questions as to whether he is up to the task. These are valid, legitimate concerns.

But if we are going to go down in flames, at least we will find out about Garrett's potential as a HC . If he bombs, we hire outside the organization, simple as that.(Bill Cowher? I pray so)

That being said, we are 4-3 ,a disappointment to be sure, but still in the thick of things in the NFC.

I will not say ridiculous things like this season is over when it's not even half over or say "I hope we lose to better our draft position" That's a loser mentality and I will have no part of it.

At the same time, Super Bowl talk for me is over for now. This team has too much work to do for me to entertain that thought right now.

It's a week by week approach, something I hope this team takes to heart over the course of the season. Whether we go 9-7, 8-8 6-10, 11- 5 whatever, I hope to see better play than what we have seen these past few weeks.

But one thing, I want to make clear is this: I will not abandon this team. I've been a fan of this team since 1988 and I'm not getting off the bandwagon now or ever. I can't. I love the team too much to do so.

Let's beat the Buccaneers on Sunday.

Firing Wade means we left with Stewart as the DC. Our defense isn't playing well enough to step it up with him as the defensive expert.

I'd also like to know what's going on with our OL. Kinda getting tired of Gurode snaping the ball before the QB is ready. Gurode does it way too much--as Romo can attest too.

Something is seriously wrong with this team. We lost against the Cards but at least we played better. Can't help thinking w/o Romo this team doesn't have a heart nor a leader.

This team would not win more than 5 games without Romo, Brad Johnson is just horrible.:(

Doesnt matter if you have TO and ROY at WR when the QB throws the ball down field like a freaking punt.

I thought the Ram DBs were calling for fair catches, seriously:(

Johnson is not the answer or the reason though.

Like I said when the Cowboys got "ROY"...Both of these guys have the dropsies.

We can beat Tampa if we cut out the turnovers and penalties. Brad Johnson will perform better; he'll be less rusty. The defense will play better; Jenkins will react better. Our O-line will step it up. The Rams were a huge wake up call.

Hang in there everyone.

Oh yes. The Giants aren't that good. We can beat them too.

Some games are "struggles". The Rams game was pure humiliation. To be that humiliated is a "wake up" call.

O ok so losing to division rivals at home and have them dancing on the star isn't a wake up call I see....

Lets not act like we have never seen this before.

We tanked out in BP's last year getting our butts kicked by the Detroit Lions at Texas Stadium as well.

This team has done this before.

I think Aikman always liked a coach that was feared for his discipline. I think that was part of the reason he did not like switzer, of course the college issue as well.

I am getting to wonder if Tony is getting a little irked at this as well. The O-line has been sloppy, same silly mistakes and you just know it has to irk tony. I take Tony as a free spirit type of player but you gotta believe he wants a little more discipline from the coach. I think we have already seen other players allude to that idea.

I think for the most part last season was so good for the team, until the last month, because they went from a coach that was too controlling and was probably too much discipline and never happy to a coach that was just the opposite. I think at that time that was what was needed for the team.

However it is hard for a team to go from one extreme to the other over a period of time without losing some things.

I am sure people have seen it in life with bosses, teachers, parents or so on. The type that are too over the top in discipline and such...where they may have people do what they say but they also don't always have people who actually care to do anymore than they need to because they don't like the individual and rarely feel they are appreciated at all. Then you have other types that are always lovey dovey the world is great you are good no matter the mistake and so on. Sooner or later that is going to be taken advantage of.

We need a coach that has a little of both of that. A coach who is not afraid to praise a player for doing well but who is also not afraid to rip a player's sphincter off and throw it in the trash if they are screwing up.

Jimmy would let his superstars get away with a great deal but every once in awhile he would rip into and cut a nobody on the roster to wake them up.

I don't think so because you can look at the Commanders game, that was a close game, and say that we lost because of this or that. In addition, the Commanders are a much better ranked team than the Rams and are a division rival, so the loss is more likely to them. The Rams were at the bottom and we were destroyed by them, hence a wake up call that brings on all of the finger-pointing, coach firing talk that goes on after a blow out. Everyone involved in football is talking about the Cowboys.

"Wake up" call is a term that has relative value. But when you lose to the Rams the way we did, it isn't the phone ringing off the hook it's the telephone pole falling on your house.

I disagree. You're making excuse as to why the Commanders wasn't a wake up game. Commanders have been playing well but there's no reason for the team to lose at home to them. To go along with 145 rushing yards by Portis and 160 receiving yards from Moss. If that game didn't go damn we're playing bad no matter how you slice no game will wake them up.

With Cupcake Phillips as HC, I don't think this team will find the heart, determination, fire or whatever else it takes to wake up. I would like to see Wade, Stewart and Read fired by the end of the day. But, I don't know how much good it would do. Someone still has to be the HC and someone still has to call the defense.

Thats what puzzles me about these analysts. Heck they were laying down in BP era a lot too. So at certain point its not the coaching anymore.

Bottom line, Jerry/GM needs to step down. Its about time. He cannot hire coaches and he let this circus come to town. First with HBO hard Knocks, even after the 2002 debacle he didn't learn.

And then its back to old days of overspend on talent thats might not be worth it. I am not talking about Roy E. Wiliams but probably likes of Flozell. But then he didn't have a choice because we stunk at Drafting OL for years now. Especially BP, and his pet Projects that put this Franchise couple of years behind.
