I am really hoping Schottenheimer insists Dak plays in the preseason

Excellent point. Why would they play him in a meaningless game to hopefully prepare him for a superior team in week 1? What's important is that he doesn't get injured. Not the week 1 results. Then the immunity kicks in.
I like the one maybe two series we used to do with Aikman and I think Romo too.

I know...an injury can happen any moment why risk one if you don;t have to. But that fits MY point...the injury can happen any moment, from home to warm ups.

So instead of giving him some PT in "live practice" (easier) games...we're gonna expect him to instantly fire up? Against NFCE rival and SB champs? Sounds even riskier to me.

Yeah, but that can happen anytime during the season. My point still stands.
However, starting the season 0-1 to a division rival who’s the defending SB champs is a tough way to start the season. After the season we had last year it’s important we build some momentum early. We don’t want to be starting the season behind the 8 ball right off the bat.
