I am really hoping Schottenheimer insists Dak plays in the preseason

Excellent point. Why would they play him in a meaningless game to hopefully prepare him for a superior team in week 1? What's important is that he doesn't get injured. Not the week 1 results. Then the immunity kicks in.
I like the one maybe two series we used to do with Aikman and I think Romo too.

I know...an injury can happen any moment why risk one if you don;t have to. But that fits MY point...the injury can happen any moment, from home to warm ups.

So instead of giving him some PT in "live practice" (easier) games...we're gonna expect him to instantly fire up? Against NFCE rival and SB champs? Sounds even riskier to me.

Yeah, but that can happen anytime during the season. My point still stands.
However, starting the season 0-1 to a division rival who’s the defending SB champs is a tough way to start the season. After the season we had last year it’s important we build some momentum early. We don’t want to be starting the season behind the 8 ball right off the bat.

I would normally agree. In the past, I shared this view. But we' be less than a year out from his injury and I'd focus on the final stages of getting healthy and recovery rather than risking injury, again.

Mostly, I want to see how good this Joe Milton guy is. He may have a little something to him.
That’s my thing. I want Milton to get as many reps as possible. I wanted the same for Lance but they just kept throwing Rush which I guess it was to evaluate talent.

Why on earth would Schotteheimer have any interest whatsoever in Dak or any 9 year vet QB playing in a meaningless game?
Serves absolutely zero purpose!
People think there’s some correlation to having a good season when playing preseason. Dak shouldn’t play a down in preseason. It proves nothing.

Yeah, but either the team can start bad, I’m not giving up on us. I think we had a decent off-season and if it wasn’t for injuries, and for the record I understand what you’re saying, it is what it is that’s my opinion

The purpose is to be ready for week 1, a game that counts. Dak isn't getting any younger and he hasn't played since week 9 of last season. If he comes out flat and we lose by 3 scores, that's what everyone is going to point to. But I too don't believe he'll play in preseason.

Philly is more equipped to start bad and overcome it. I haven’t given up on the Cowboys.

It's Jerry and the highest paid player ever vs a first time/last time head coach. He's not doing anything meaningful in preseason games.

A month of 2 a days before the 1st game, the belief in a couple of series in a glorified scrimmage isn’t going to change anything.
Thinking it does is just silliness!

We get better as the season goes on, we just don’t have enough talent when the time comes. I don’t know what to expect from us this season so many former first round draft picks with one year contracts.

We peak about mid season then we begin to fade. That’s been the pattern for a number of years. You would have to go back a ways to find the last time we were playing our best football in Dec.

Dak needs the preseason to shake off the rust. I am against waiting for week 1 against Philly, to see what he has. Reps matter not only in practice, but in games too
I’ve never liked nit getting him reps in pre season. Players need the speed of a game to get timing down.

The mind numbingly ridiculous posts like this to anti dak rhetoric is insane yeah if we're looking to get the number one overall pick next year sure start Milton and if you want pickings that have a meltdown you can see balls thrown all over like inaccurate he already dealt with that coming from Pittsburgh he wants to be here because of Prescott believe it or not they don't share the same opinion of you and they be right i'd be right and you'd be very wrong..

Right now, Milton is a big version of Trey Lance and if you think somehow this team is going anywhere from game one on what they raw inaccurate talent just because he could run the football and against backups he looked decent yeah nice try though.....

The best thing for Milton would be be sitting on the bench behind Prescott the next two years but again if your goal is to only win three games sure but wanting to sit Prescott who's never had a losing season when he's healthy one of the best quarterbacks in the league it's never ending how clueless some of you really are..
I believe one of the best quarterbacks when healthy is a slight exaggeration. He is rated overall around 13 depending on which ranking you are looking at.

Dak's playoff record tells me how good a quarterback he really is.

Qb1 will be in the best shape of his life, why would he risk injury playing in a meaningless pre season?
