I know this is irrelevant to his return skills, but isn't Austin the spitting image of the Yankees' Alex Rodriguez?

Glenn has never and will never be a #1 WR.
And those comments arent even my TO-homerism... I am happy both guys are on the team... but.... no one would agree with that
As for Austin, I just I don't think he runs to the sidelines cuz that's all he knows. I think that's how their blocking schemes are set up.
WoodysGirl;1230828 said:I don't think I'm embellishing by much. Glenn's hands are better than TO's. Saying 100 times is just a matter of opinion and hyperbole. So it's up to you how you want to take it. This is not a knock on Owens at all. I just think barring injuries and his own troubled history as a player, his career production would've compared favorably with Owens. It doesn't matter to me whether he's been a #1 or #2.

aikemirv;1230849 said:I really think the only thing T.O has on Glenn is size and strength. Glenn is faster, has much better hands, runs much better routes and is just as hard to cover 1-1 as T.O is. The difference IMO is yards after catch (T.O.'s physicality) and size and that is the hardest thing for these DB's to defend, the size.
Oh, and I would say T.O's hands, after watching him game after game are in the bottom 20% of Starting WR's in the league. He rarely catches them cleanly.
Yeagermeister;1230868 said:I don't even think TO has a strength advantage. Glenn has muscled up big time.
YoMick;1230342 said:Bill probably told him to do so... LOL
But seriously... this Hester kid... he aims for the middle of the field and then he cuts left and he is up the sidelines....
can we try that? its gotta work once?
Did you read my post? I stated Glenn's HANDS were 100 times better than Owens. Take from that what you will.YoMick;1230928 said:Yeah what was I thinking... Glenn is 100 times better than TO.
Difference is... Glenn can be taken COMPLETELY out of a game. TO gets taken out of the game BY US!
Argghhh!!! :bang2: :shootme:
dangerdoom4124;1230289 said:I like his returns too but, why does he always run to the sidelines?
WoodysGirl;1230615 said:Actually Terry Glenn is equally as good as TO, but without the mouth. They both present a threat, both can get deep, Terry has 100 times better hands than TO. TO's stats are better than Terry's, because he gets more ball thrown to him, but Terry's are nothing to sneeze at.
TO
72 catches 971 yards 13.5 ypc 51 longest 9 TD
TG
58 catches 825 yards 14.2 ypc 51 longest 6 TD
Sometimes people try to make it a TO vs TG kinda thing, but I think each of them have a different skill set than can abuse defenses when they execute. So to me it's not who's the best receiver on the team, it's who executes the best on that particular day.
YoMick;1230962 said:Actually... you didnt just say Terry has 100 times better hands...
you also said "Actually Terry Glenn is equally as good as TO"
and how can say Terry "executes" better.... he doesnt have the same percentage of chances because he cant/aint open as much
Talk about picking lint off carpet.YoMick;1230962 said:Actually... you didnt just say Terry has 100 times better hands...

You can disagree with the statement all day, but it is what it is. On any given day, when both receivers are on their game and get their shots, both can put up numbers. In the NY game, TO was 8-84 yards. Glenn 4-52. In the NO game, TO 3-56 and Glenn 8-150 (I think he got open fairly in this game, dontcha think?)
Glenn is as good as TO. I didn't say he was better or worse than TO. They complement one another.
But I'm done with this convo. Last thing I want to do is continue in a nonsensical debate about The Player.

I don't agree that his accerelation is 'great'--it is ok. And it isn't as good as Tyson. He also doesn't 'wiggle' on a dime which is what is required to consistently break long TD returns.
It was in response to this:YoMick;1230987 said:Actually I was wondering why you brought up the TO - TG thing in the Miles Austin thread anyways....
And if you hadn't noticed, others brought up TO before I did, tho sorta in reference to Austin.SaintReginald said:im sure you know this but TO is the best receiver on your team. I mean i know hes a cancer and all that..but you would want someone to fill in the gap before you go cutting a player like TO. If terry glen were your best receiver hed be matched up against every team's best corner.
WoodysGirl;1231004 said:As for the original topic, here's a blurb from one of the articles.
Bright spot: Miles Austin returned five kickoffs for 148 yards, a 29.6 average, against the Saints.
"I'm watching a lot of tape of Tyson Thompson," Austin said, referring to player he replaced. (Thompson is out for the season with a leg injury.) "I'm getting more and more used to the position."
