I am very impressed by Miles Austin's kickoff returns

Hoping to get a block and hit the corner. Better than TT going up the middle and running into a pile at the 25 to 30 yard line. I liked TT, fast, and getting better. Led the NFL at the time of his injury. But something was missing. Like not hitting the outside very often. Or so it seemed that way.

A lot of Thompson's returns were to the outside, especially his big gainers. For some reason, Dallas blocks better for outside returns. There really aren't huge holes opening up in the Dallas return game. I don't know if it is scheme or the players or the usual combination of both. I think a guy like Hester would help Dallas, but I doubt he would have scored multiple TDs on the Cowboys special teams.

I know BP loves special teams... I do wonder if its more scheme than players?

I like his returns too but, why does he always run to the sidelines?

That is the way it is schemed I think. The wall always seem to head to one side or the other, rather than up the middle. This will allow the consistent 30 yard returns, but prevents the big ones because it is so difficult to burn 11 guys up the sideline.

Cutbacks are what allow kickoff returns to go the distance, our scheme prevents that.
