The only 40+ signing that would be ok is a guy named Brady. Other than him I really don’t get it. Has it gotten that bad that Jerry could sign Larry Allen and everyone is talking like it’s adding Deion in 95? LOL, brainwashed fan base.

Funny, I remember 5 years ago when people thought signing a 40 year old Brady was crazy

its fair for people to get excited that we found a stop gap to help take some of the pressure off of Smith as he is acclimating to the nfl...Peters graded out very soundly last year, is a proven leader and can be a great mentor to help the line come together.

Doesn't mean we are going to the superbowl, but its better to have him than where we were last week before we signed him.

Dallas had to do something to help the LT position after the loss of Smith and given at the age of 39 Peters was ranked as the #22 OT in the league last season speaks volumes for him. That said, there is no doubt things should never have gotten to where Dallas is scrambling a few days before the season to seek help on the OL and that points directly to Jerry & Co.

Offensive line, especially left tackle, is an exception position when it comes to age because great players can have a long career there if their bodies hold up on them.

For example ..

Andrew Whitworth is 40 years old. He is also one of the NFL’s best tackles.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/12/17/andrew-whitworth-longevity/

Whitworth isn’t the first 40-year-old to start an NFL game somewhere along an offensive line, but it’s not a long list. Rams legend Jackie Slater, a fixture at right tackle from 1976 to 1995, did it. At 43, Ray Brown started several 2005 games for Washington at right guard, including a pair of playoff contests that made him the oldest NFL lineman to appear in the postseason. Hall of Famer Bruce Matthews ended his 19-year career by making the Pro Bowl as a 40-year-old center for the 2001 Tennessee Titans.

I would not want a 40 year old linebacker, but a 40 year old offensive lineman who is still a solid player is another story.

His highlight film from last year with the Bears shows he can still play that position, so whether Peters works out or not, he is worth a shot.

Worst case they release him and go with the young guys or sign another left tackle or guard.

I can't believe that somebody would say this and put their name on it for all to see when you can actually go on youtube and see the excellent video on him from last year. You should be totally embarrassed.

They signed the best tackle on the market.

I'd prefer to look at this as a positive outcome from losing a HOF player to injury. For the season. But even if we didn't find a fill, some fans would piss & moan anyway.

The depth was needed so no reason to be negative about the signing. But best case scenario is Peters never plays LT because Smith plays well the 1st 2 weeks and runs with the job.

Peters hasn’t played RT since 2005 so I’m curious about the possibility of him playing there if Steele struggles…which I think is a legit worry no one is talking about. I personally don’t think the odds of Steele being a good RT all season are much better than Smith being able to play LT.

Complain about doing nothing then complain about doing something and a single game hasn’t even been played yet. Some people just live to find fault with everything they can’t control. They are the same people that never admit fault for anything while they blame others or find excuses. These are the people to ignore as you proceed on your journey.

I think he will be good enough and better at it then anyone we had on the roster before the signing.
