I can’t believe how many are so excited about a 40yr old signing

The only 40+ signing that would be ok is a guy named Brady. Other than him I really don’t get it. Has it gotten that bad that Jerry could sign Larry Allen and everyone is talking like it’s adding Deion in 95? LOL, brainwashed fan base.
Well 'genius' give us an idea of who they should have signed then instead of spouting off nonsense like this. What are your better options?

Peters is 5 years younger then Brady.:omg::laugh: I think Peters is an adequate replacement for Tyron.

Who's excited exactly.

Turpin is a player to get excited about.

Jason Peters is a player that brings a calming relief to a fan base that's been frustrated the whole offseason because our front office has not addressed the weaknesses in our offensive line.

The brainwashed fan base you speak of is actually an educated group of people that realize the frustration in watching a game with a horrible offensive line.

The guy's age is just a number if he can do the job and give reliable service at a reasonable rate and mentor our rookie how can that possibly be a bad thing.
When you can replace one Hall of famer with another That is playing at a high level what's not to like about that exactly

No one is saying he’s the missing piece for a SB run. But we got a guy who can give us depth at a position of need. Dude played 15 games last year and played very well. I’m just glad we didn’t rely on the rookie and we actually added a guy who can help.

Andrew Whitworth looked pretty good playing in the Super Bowl last year as a 40 year old tackle…

He sure as hell did. I'd love to sign him too. IF we convinced him to do it, what would be the latest he could come in and play...week 6 or so? Hey, never say never. Maybe pitch AW to play with the other dominant tackle from his era...he might go for it.

Security. This buys us a year to develop Walezta and keeps Josh Ball off the field. More of a relief if Tyler doesn't adjust well or gets injured we have some veteran protection to protect our QB. Like him, love him or hate him, but if Dak gets injured we are done. Peters provides a comfort zone in protecting Dak. If Josh Ball and WZA got on the field for any meaningful action then we are in trouble. Personally I would describe my reaction as more "relief" than "excited".

I'd also be more relieved if we had a more accomplished backup QB, but that didn't happen. So the next best thing is to protect QB1
The backup qb is fine for a game or 2. Just like last year. If Dak is knocked out for the season they would be out of the race just like every other team in the league would be if they lost their starter.

At least they got someone who played last year ........ they should have got someone 3 months ago ...... but it is what it is.
I disagree, They did great signing him now when he was needed. He didn't need training camp. He proved that last year.

Yes and a guy with technique who knows what refs in the NFL are going to call and how to work around it.
A guy who's big enough not to get run over and smart enough not to stop drives with unnecessary penalties.
Experience is a priceless commodity

Steele gave up 2 sacks last season, at least one was during the 1st game of the impromptu move to the left side. Peters gave up 6. The belief that they’re going to possibly move Steele after releasing Collins because he struggles a bit is just silly. This was to distraction from criticism for being poorly prepared at backup by picking up a (name) media and fans had heard of. Barring injury Peters won’t touch the field and then it will be out of desperation!
My take is Peters plays as soon as he is ready. Maybe week 3 or 4.

Give me a 40 year old Peters over a 24 year old Ball....age does not always equal to talent or skill.

But we just landed a future hall of famer ;). All jokes aside we saw last year that he can still play well and creates a little insurance for a squad that's very thin at the most important position on the offensive line. I can understand some relief from Cowboys fans thinking a couple weeks ago there may be no additional help brought in.

Dallas had to do something to help the LT position after the loss of Smith and given at the age of 39 Peters was ranked as the #22 OT in the league last season speaks volumes for him. That said, there is no doubt things should never have gotten to where Dallas is scrambling a few days before the season to seek help on the OL and that points directly to Jerry & Co.
You have a link to that #22 OT ranking?

Whitworth played at a high level at 40. Will Peters? We will find out.

Watching his presser I liked him. Good addition and if he’s got something left we’re good
