Cleveland got punked by us. We get their draft choice, then we take that draft choice and run it down their throats.

I was pleased. Like everyone else I have things that cause concern. Point is that w/ penalties, we still go right down the field and I think we will improve w/ Hurd or Austin back. We didn't get the pressure I wanted , but I think our secondary is so improved that we can even make up for that. This is even w/o Newman. By the end of this game, Cleveland was gassed on defense.
Romo looked fantastic btw Sans the intercept that was probably the result of a rookie not blocking properly and causing him to alter his throw.

C'mon Hos, we had a 1st and 30 and it didn't phase us. LOL. How awesome was that? :)

I won't lie to you, I was nervous about his game. Cleveland was a very good football team last year and this was in their house. The time of possession, the fact we only had the ball 8 times, and the yardage we racked up just thrill me.

Basically the only real negatives are the 11 penalties, no takeaways, and 1 INT. I'd like to see more sacks on our ledger, but the fact we didn't give up any with a backup lineman is fantastic.

I am surprised we did not create more sacks.....we need Spencer in the lineup

I completely agree.

The only negatives I saw were the dumb penalties which gave them a ton of free yardage. And I would like to see us actually get to the QB before he gets rid of the ball a little more.

Yesterday was a very promising sign for the season.

22 to 8.

Dallas had 22 plays of 10+ yards.
Cleveland had 8 plays of 10+ yards.

Wow.

If there's any team we face this season that can do what is necessary - ie bring the heat and trust their corners for 2-3 seconds, it's Philly. This will be a great test for that offensive line, and for the backs in blitz pickup.

unfortunately, penalties can't be worked out for us. we say this every year, and every year we are one of the most penalized teams. the team has tons of talent(most in the league), but just may be one of the dumbest teams as well.

One of the dumbest- don't think so... A few of the holding penalties saved possible big hits on Romo- not dumb in my book.

The Browns should have faired at least a bit better than they did, but they had a few huge drops. They still would have lost, but once the season starts going I think they will be a bit better. They have a lot of new guys on defense that should meld with a bit more time.

They just need to survive until then.

Playing the Rams, Texans, and Commanders probably didn't hurt either. ;)

Texans defense line is actually pretty good. Don't worry though, we play the Steelers too. If their oline is as good as appears from the game stats, we will find out soon enough.

I didn't get nervous till i talked to my uncle and his friends but I still thought we could get the win because our O is better than theirs and our D and if its a shot out we would win that battle.

Anderson was sacked only 14 times last season in 15 games. Less than once per game. The Browns o-line was good last season and probably even better this season now that Thomas has a year under his belt. Dallas did not get sacks, but they did create some good pressure during the game and knocked Anderson down several times.

2007 sack percentage leaders(sacks per pass attempt)
1. Drew Brees · NOR 2.40%
2. Sage Rosenfels · HOU 2.44%
3. Derek Anderson* · CLE 2.59%

I am not surprised Dallas did not sack Anderson more. I was pleased with the pressure they did get and still also see room for improvement.

Cleveland has some very nice building blocks but they just weren't ready for the Big Time that is the Dallas Cowboys.

I agree. Other than the 11 flags I was thrilled with the way we played. The O-line was as dominate as I have seen any O-line look in a game and defensively we pretty much shut down a top 5 offense. Where we may not have gotten any sacks Dallas was able to put good pressure on Anderson. I think this was an A performace for the Cowboys and I hope our fans are happy today about it.

Joe Thomas has greatness written all over him.

This is exactly why I said he was the only player I would have traded way up in the draft to get. (of course I was in love with AD too, but trading up for a RB is HIGHLY questionable) As everyone can see last night, the key to any offense is your offensive line first. I don't care how great your QB is, if he is on his back, he isn't going to be making many plays.
