I do not like Burnett being moved

This makes little sense to me, and I do not like it.

I want Burnett on the field!

For those who are not sure what I am talking about, today Parcells said Fujita plays the same side as Singleton, and Burnett is being moved to Ware's side.

It does look like good depth, but really limits Burnett's chance of getting playing time.

One positive is this will allow Burnett to come in when we play 4 man fronts with Ware at DE.

All in all I do not like it though.

i got a feeling your panicking before the elevator cable breaks............

it would seem logical to me to put fujita behind singleton until he is familiar with the system and can replace him, which i believe to be the obvious conclusion to draw....

and i believe Tuna put the two rookies on the other side because right now they aren't complete ball players one unto themselves, but if you rotate them and play to their strengths, the two togeather make one hell of an olb..............

i would wait to see how it plays out before hollering foul on this one.........

I agree.

The big play Burnett made against the Texans was playing Ware's spot, I believe.

Besides, I think Coach Parcells has big plans for Kevin and that does not mean just at strongside LBer. He might be a solution inside as well, you never know how Bradie James is going to do.

Who says Burnett isn't going to be on the field? When Ware was drafted, Parcells said he wanted to him to be a nickel speed pass rusher. He later stated in training camp that he didn't want Ware playing 70 snaps a game. My guess is that Ware plays along the lines of 40 snaps a game, and Burnett plays 30-40.

I don't like it either. Burnett needs to get playing time but not in Ware's place.

Rotation is the key. We have enough talent to rotate , therefore keeping our players fresh, HUGE asset!

He said he did not want Ware getting 70 snaps at DE playing on the OT. Not that he did not want him playing 70 plays a game. You keep your playmakers on the field.

No. I listen to the press conferences. I recap them. He said he didn't want Ware on the field 70 snaps a game. When Ware was drafted, he didn't even foresee him starting.

I think Parcells knows what he's doing on this subject.

Actually it was playing Singleton's spot.

That is a smart move by a coach that knows teams will game plan against the rookies weakness. This way he limits the growniing pains by leaving the youth on one position. Yes both are playmakers but will cost us growning pains with both out there at the same time.

Devolping a player while still limiting the holes at defense. Can't expose the yound D just because we have playmakers in the making. I saw Ware make plays but also plays were made against him and Burnett. Big hole BP had to close. He needs them on certain plays out there but needs productivity and consistency the majority of the time. Hey Haley was a complete player when he got here no develpoment needed unfortunately this time they need to play but be protected.

Burnett would probably spot play on passing downs limiting his role and mistakes. If memory serves me correct similar what the ravens did with their OLB.

I think that Burnett is going to start off backing up both outside linebacker spots, then once we have two capable players at ROLB, we'll get Burnett reps at inside linebacker. Hopefully, he'll end up starting at ILB, and backing up Ware at OLB.

Singleton will not hold on past this year and Fujita is a URFA after this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we work out an extension with Fujita during the year as he is smart, active, strong at the point of attack, effective on the blitz and good on special teams. He will provide good depth and is a natural SOLB in the 3-4.

I think it is a matter of working in the young guys slowly but not wanting too many on the field at once due to void of leadership/experience.

Burnett's role will probably grow during the year. He may get on the field some in the nickel when Ware lines up with his hand on the ground. I think his future is likely at SOLB, though.

If you watch the preseason games, you'll see a marked difference in Ware's ability to rush the passer in the 2nd half compared to the first half. He was being handled rather easily by other teams 2nd and 3rd OT's in the 2nd half, while making plays against 1st stringers earlier in games. All of his big plays came earlier in games. At this point in his career, when he's not fresh and can't until his quickness off the snap, he's just another guy.

Maybe he's not quite ready, Haven't anyone thought of that?
Actually that is what I have been saying for days. If he was ready he would have taken over for Singleton. I don't think Burnett has been developing the way Parcells wanted all along and that is why he has been saying how concerned he was about his OLB depth.

Good observation.

In one game he whips Hutchinson.

In another, Khalif Barnes is handling him with ease (but he did beat him once).

He will need some rest, and I don't understand why anyone wouldn't rather have Burnett doing it than Ogbogu or Thornton.

At first, I was surprised by the move...... but, now I don't think it is bad news for Burnett.
Somebody posted their observation that ware was less effective late in games (it might have been InmanRoshi); and, I agree. So, we know Ware isn't going to play every play. Someone has to spell him - might as well be Burnett.
Then, Fujita can take Al's job - instead of Burnett. And, the Cowboys aren't relying on two rookie LBs at two different spots.

I'm in total agreement on this one. Everyone is really wanting to pull the trigger on Singleton, and when he is replaced as a starter, he will be a very good, serviceable backup. He's not going anywhere.
