I don’t want Zeke on this team at all even if he takes a cut

When Pollard got hurt vs SF, Zeke's negative impact was on full display.

Completely useless as a weapon AND too respected of a vet to be benched for a younger, more explosive guy like Malik Davis. Terrible combination.

While we as fans can see what Zeke is at this point in his career, Jerry has an obvious emotional investment in 'his' players so ultimately we need to prepare for Zeke to be on this team.

Need young with a burst at the RB position. Dudes left on the roster have to learn how to pass protect. Can't pay a guy just because he can do one thing well as a RB.

Most in here have been saying that for a long time. Even at the vet minimum, it's too much. He is a progress stopper. He is taking up a roster spot that would be better for the Cowboys if it was filled with a rookie.
I think this totally ignores a lot of what Zeke does "behind the scenes". I know...people poo poo his blocking...either because they are idiots...or possible the money. Would a rookie be able to get out in front of Pollard and make TWO blocks for a big gain...that makes Tony's numbers look great? You think with this inconsistent o-line, Dak would be as effective? Or maybe, really....hurt.

Tell you what...I'll curbstomp zeke too then...*if* we fix this o-line and get them making hole sand up the field looking for pancakes. Truly commit to the run, stop the 3 delay handoffs up the middle in a row, stop the empty backfield on 1st and two.

I'll take that rookie to replace him....IF.. we do it like when Zeke was a rookie.

I don’t either. Unless it’s 3rd or 4th and short. Giving Zeke the ball is actually a detriment to the offense.

Lol lol EXACTLY, people don't realize this. Better off snapping the ball and throwing it out of bounds

The issue is the run blocking on the offensive line could get better.

It really could. We aren't set at offensive line. We basically made it work last year, but I think they are neglecting the interior of the offensive line, and that's where we typically run the ball.

Zeke can probably still play a little. But he's more like 3rd best back on your team... So, at the vet minimum, sure. But you still have to pay to keep him. Plus, it causes confusion, because he's used to starting.

I think you cut him and let the younger guys lead. Let Pollard lead. He's a bit more focused on the objective.
dude cannot get quickly in and out of holes, .he labors in getting to the edges, and bouncing outside and he's average now in acceleration and getting to the second level .
...he lumbers, ...and he makes the OL have to work that much harder to sustain and hold blocks.

you can even tell the difference in Zeke's bursts (lack there of) .. vs a guy like Malik Davis.

Where zeke has greatest value is in goal line situations, where his lower power and knack for goal line is near upstoppable, even more than Pollard.

and if i have to resort to keeping Zeke at the vet minimum, i'm not sure we're doing him a justice, whereas he can survey and look for a team that
would be willing to pay him more..much more than that.
Some teams may covet a Frank Gore type grinder now.

I was a big fan of Zeke but all the hits have taken a toll on his legs. Definitely time to move on. But biggest progress stopper in SF was the QB, I hope he cuts own on the turnovers this season.

Because you say so? Well...Maybe. Id like to see him go to another team and see.

Someone will pick him up....THEN you can gloat.

You can gloat to the eagles the team you really love! He's done that's my opinion you have yours, time to grow up

If Zeke agrees to a pay cut (significant) with incentives to recoup some of it, then he will be back like it or not. The combine was supposed to have answers if he and the Cowboys could work something out and if not then probably a June 1st cut. To my knowledge, we have heard nothing about what happened in Indy so the handwriting on the wall says they are working on a new contract that includes significant salary reduction but with incentives to recoup.

Will not surprise me to see Dallas have a press conference in the next week that includes a new deal for Zeke and Tyron Smith as well as an extension of Dak's contract and quite possibly the announcement of a trade as the "Big Thing". Frankly, I could see Dallas signing OBJ and trading for Ramsey CB as part of the announcement.

Signing OBJ (not my favorite) solves (in their minds) the dilemma at WR and Ramsey solves the secondary problem across from Diggs. Two of their biggest needs off the board going into the draft. Add a good LG in free agency, a good DT in free agency and some late free agency guys that might contribute and then the draft is all about BPA whether that be a RB or WR or OL or DE or CB and gives them options to trade down if they want.

Would you classify this as all in for 2023? Debatable but at least the team overall would/should be better. At least to me then if Bijan Robinson or Jahmyr Gibbs were at #26 everyone would probably be excited to have either. Having Pollard, Zeke and Robinson in the backfield would be an embarrassment of riches at least to me and would fit perfectly into McCarthy's offensive style.
