Want Zeke or not if he takes a massive base salary paycut and can become FB/goaline back then it would be THE BEST scenario for the team cap wise and would work on the field. Cut we are 16+ mill at RB with an un known shortyardage back...or we can free up another 4 mill in cap and have Zeke who is still very good at the short yardage goaline carry.
There is no scenario where bringing back Zeke is good for the team. And no he isnt a good GL and short yardage back. Marginal at best. Cant bounce it outside, never breaks a big run on short yardage, and makes us very predictable as all he can do is dive up the middle. Often times they have to resort to Dak on critical short yardage plays.

I would love to keep Zeke cheap.
He would be awesome to spell Pollard, short yardage situation, pass blocking situations, injury insurance, etc.
Y’all saying he should retire taking it over the top.
He’s definitely not a top flight RB, but he still has his role within an NFL team.
Absolutely overpaid, 2-3mil.
I agree people minimize Zeke's value to the team but there were several instances in short yardage especially goal line situations where Tony Pollard could not punch it in. Zeke has a nose for the endzone and still had 12 touchdowns last year. You can't dismiss that value. It would be foolish

It is not bout money this time around ... just move on from him and have some hungry healthier RBs .... the drop in production will be so minimal if any.

I love him and respect him but he is at this point a progress stopper. We need to draft another guy with Pollard

Isn't the definition of a progress stopper is someone who takes a position and keeps a player on the bench and not on the field? So to dump Zeke and draft someone isn't exactly like Zeke is stopping anyone's progress. If he ain't on the team, how is this mythical player being stopped?

Do you even know what the injury was?

"Pollards leg is trashed"!!! LOL

Lets just move on. Clearly your not qualified to even have this conversation.

Do you know there other running backs in the world other than Zeke and Pollard? Do you watch other teams play? Are you aware of the draft? Do you know what the salary cap is? Salaries?

When you understand these concepts and research the injury come on back to the conversation.
I don’t think a foot should be pointing backwards.

This is why Zeke stays.

..I'll eat my chuck roast raw. But keeping Zeke for cheaper deal, would benefit us.

He's better than avg back. Knows the offense. Now with NEW OC, better opportunities. OL should be descent again.

Between him and TP. I see another GOOD Tandem there.

Two things I will say in Zeke’s defense.

1. I never question his effort. The guy gives his all out there.

2. The former offensive coordinator did him zero favors, putting a power back into a finesse running game.

I think Zeke would do much better in a Schottenheimer run game than Kellen Moore’s. And if he were willing to return for say $3 million a year? I wouldn’t hate that.

The issue is the run blocking on the offensive line could get better.

It really could. We aren't set at offensive line. We basically made it work last year, but I think they are neglecting the interior of the offensive line, and that's where we typically run the ball.

Zeke can probably still play a little. But he's more like 3rd best back on your team... So, at the vet minimum, sure. But you still have to pay to keep him. Plus, it causes confusion, because he's used to starting.

I think you cut him and let the younger guys lead. Let Pollard lead. He's a bit more focused on the objective.
Do they need more time to gel or do you think more high draft pick Olineman are needed? And what positions specifically?

I am with you. Its just time. Its almost cruel to let him go out there and deteriorate even further and get even more hate from Dallas fans after a very good career. Its over Johnny.

Except the stats say otherwise.

12 TDs

50+ rushing first downs.

This right here. Need a rookie back to fill the void zeke will leave this year and what pollard will leave the year after
yes, but the jones boys see things differently than we do.
A rookie would be cheaper no matter what paycut elliot takes, so maybe tightwad steve will consider that.

I can name a few others you can describe as progress stoppers. But I understand......Zeke has been a Fall Guy while some have been excused, play dismissed, and hidden under the rug.

Anyone really watching Zeke at the end of last season knows he is shot.
