For the LONGEST time I can recall most Cowboys fan's sitting and complaining about Jerry Jones over paying top rated free agents.
People SCREAMED for him to build through the draft.

Now that Jerry is not making the "big splash" signings and the front office is looking to the draft to build a team people are crying that we are not spending top dollar on every free agent that gets signed by another team.

The big one seems to be the "cap space"...We have none. LOL

We can free up right around $40 million in cap space with just a few moves (and no that does not include cutting Dez and Witten).

NEWS FLASH....We have 10 picks in this coming draft.

We watch what we spend this year we will have between $65 and $70 million in cap space next year without making any kind of moves.

Seriously...People are complaining about some scrub WR that Washington over paid big time like we should have signed him.

Spending envy. Most of the guys were not fits anyway. Ngata will be lucky if he is not cut, Bennett would have never taken a trade to come to Dallas, Peters we already have corners,Norwell Dallas was not looking for stud OG, Wilkinson would have been Hardy Drama part deux, Hitchens was nice piece but not worth keeping for 9MM, Dalls already has 5 WR under contract so FO overpaying for a Watkins or Robinson was not happening.

It was never about the best way to build a team, it was about people with predeterminations being right.

If Jerry does it it's wrong, because Jerry did it. That's the extent of most "discussion" on this board these days.

There have been some FAs out there that could help this team yet they refuse to bring any in. They bring in JAGs and act like it's helping to build a competitive team. JJ and Stephen blow smoke up our ***** and try to spin it to make it look like they are doing something great. While the e-gals go from clowns to champs in 2 years using FA...

And we already have 10 proven pro-bowl/all-pro caliber players under contract. We have as much top end talent as any team in the league. We need depth, and depth is far more efficiently obtained through the draft.

And the Eagles are scrambling around trying to get cheaper players because they are over the cap and cant keep some of the guys that helped the win the SB.

Good post however common sense doesn’t play well here with a lot of folks. It doesn’t matter what the Cowboys do, there will be the wolves howling.

LOL. 10 draft picks.

These posts often miss the point. The majority of people who have issues with the FO aren’t pushing for the Cowboys to sign a bunch of high priced FAs.

They are pushing for the Cowboys to make strategic signings instead of the crap bargain bin players they resort to.

It’s disingenuous when people push ideas like you did.

It is kind of funny. When we were trading our draft picks for veterans it was considered a football sin. This organization says they want to get better by the draft and fans are upset.

Its all about results. Its all good after you go 13-3. You go 9-7 or 8-8 and its all about doing whatever you can.

Nobody wants to hear it....and I probably don't want to hear it from Jerry and co......but this team will get better just off the maturation of their young players from the past 3 drafts.

what some of us want is our mistakes stopped, and some smart talent added. No point in bringing in Zeke if the coaches wont commit to running. No point in bringing in CBs if our CBs are going to allow catches first.

if our coaches cant get the job done, we have to get the correct talent, how many times are we going to pass up on ball hawking safeties?

Hopefully in 2-3 years some of those 10 draft picks will help the team win something.

Dak will be a free agent after 2 more seasons. There should be a sense of urgency to sign guys to 1-2 year deals before Dak becomes a free agent. Example: Sign Suh and Wilkerson to 1 year incentive laden deals. Wilkerson got signed to a 1 year incentive based 8 million dollar contract. No excuse for the Cowboys not to load up before they are forced to pay Dak.

Oh they are strategic signings....they just are bad ones. They are failing in their strategy.

I've been for finding some guys you can snag up on a 1 year deal who are hungry....and while I'm still for that....its looking harder and harder to find those type of deals it seems with the contracts being given out. I think if you are going to be a player in free agency you are going to have to overpay for average talent this year. Not many prove it deals being given out but its still early.

Based on the projected cap for 2021, the Eagles ENTIRE cap will be wrapped up in 21 players currently under contract. And that's BEFORE factoring in Wentz's $120+ million deal that will be in place by then. They are also one of the oldest teams in football.

The Eagles will literally have to tear their team apart over the next two years. There are less than 10 guys currently on their roster that wi be there on opening day 2021. They will be cutting multiple pro bowl caliber players.

They went all in and it worked, but they're gonna be Wentz and friends in a couple years.

Exactly

Perhaps these are different people saying different things at different times?

The problem is every team has young players and they might improve too.

So sitting out FA thinking our young players and draft picks will make quick impacts is likely a bit of wishful thinking that frankly, gets said year after year despite the fact we always come up short.

So name one move out there they could’ve been strategic about, when they’re are teams out there willing to give these players what they want...lol
