I don't think any team can straight up beat us, except the Falcons

I'm as sure as can be that there are at least several teams that are highly capable of beating Dallas in the playoffs. As it is, the Cowboys' team will have to perform at their peak efficiency to beat the teams that they'll be required to compete with. Opponents like the Giants, Commanders, Falcons, Packers and Patriots all have the wherewithal to deliver as much competition as necessary to win on a good day. Let's be mindful that we're not altogether too far removed from being a team that struggled to excel as recently as just last year.

Realistically, our offense is significantly more competent than it was in 2015, especially with Dak and Zeke being inserted into the lineup. The defense has improved this year, although it is still vulnerable defensively in the secondary, especially. Hopefully, Claiborne might be able to return for the playoffs in sufficiently healthy condition to allow that unit to be noticeably more competitive. I'm confident that we'll compete capably with any playoff team that we'll meet but let's not pretend that Atlanta is the only one that threatens our "supremacy." Simply put, it's just not so.

Everyone we play is going to try and put the game on Dak because putting it all on the QB, especially a rookie QB is where you can force most of the mistakes. We have to limit the penalties that have put us behind the chains in some long down situations. This is where Dak struggled mightily against the Giants a couple of weeks ago. We've been our own worst enemy with penalties that have nullified some great plays and put us in a number 3rd and long situations.

Couple that with bad field position, and Dak took more time than necessary on several throws, or non throw aways. One thing the Giants do have that is overlooked is a great punter. In the last game I can recall at least 2 punts downed within the 10 yard line. One by former cowboy Dwayne
Harris...

Eli Manning in the playoffs and superbowl

17 TDs 8 INTs for 89.3 rating

That's including the 1 year he threw only 1 interception the entire playoffs.

He has games of 0 TDs and 3 INTs and games of 0 TDs and 2 INTs.

Yea eli is such a big time player in the playoffs. Without his defense and running game in those playoffs and the 49ers return man having 2 bounce off his leg for turnovers Eli is worst then any QB in the division

You don't think Eli Manning's 6 TDs vs 1 Interception in 2007 and 9 TDs vs 1 interception in 2011 didn't play a huge role in the Giants winning the Superbowl both of those years?

I've never understood the incredible amount of time, effort, and energy put into posters here on CZ over the years trying to prove that somehow the Giants won those Superbowls despite Eli Manning -- that somehow those Giants teams some miraculously won despite Manning's suckiness.

He was money on both of those Superbowl runs.

We were behind the chains a lot in that game facing some 3rd and real situations. That's something we have to avoid in the playoffs. We're not a big play offense, we chip away at the defense with long time consuming drives and penalties pop up. You have to be disciplined and watch your technique because bad technique can result in holding calls.

In the NFC, only Dallas can beat Dallas. The Pats in Houston will be a different story, but if the coaches feed the beast and Irving, Gregory, Tank, et al play up like crazy, I like our chances.
Well said.

Eli threw up prayers in both those runs that was lucky wasn't intercepted and not only that in both runs her had recievers make incredible game saving catches. To say otherwise is silly

Got it.

15 TDs and just 2 interceptions in his 2 Superbowl runs and it was all just dumb luck.

Check.

It wasn't all dumb luck, but to not admit those 2 plays were dumb luck is disingenuous.

The sheer degree of difficulty making the catch shown above is extraordinarily high. Rarely have similar catches occurred at the professional, collegiate or high school level. Very few professional highly skilled wide receivers have caught similar catches. Ever. It's doubtful that Tyree can be deemed as a highly sklled wide receiver but he did make this catch, which was instrumental to the Giants victory over the Patriots. Conversation itself becomes constrained if luck cannot be used to describe this particular catch.

Though you do have to give Eli credit for some serious strength on the escape from a sack on that play.

True. He's done it enough times over the years to prove his escapability is no fluke. He's bought himself enough time to fling a number of deep passes and ducks for a long time. Quite a few have either fallen incomplete or intercepted but it's the passes that his receivers have hauled in while demonstrating crazy athletic ability that stand out the most.

Luck, shmuck.
Every team and every fan will take it.
Who cares? Eli has two Super Bowl rings.
We can debate indefinitely whether he was lucky or good. History records him as a winner.

Didn't say it was all dumb luck but I get it when people have an agenda they put words in others mouth and make up stupid comments cause they have nothing better to say. It's too extreme 1 way or the other, no middle ground.

The worst sports debates are ones with agendas......see Stephen A Smith

Not worried about the Falcons. The Falcons, in four of their five losses, were only one score from a potential tie or win. The exception was their nine-point loss to Philly. How did Philly beat them? It was one of the few times Philly was fairly healthy in the backfield and on the O-line. They ran for 208 yards against them and controlled the ball with runs and a short passing game that the Falcons couldn't defend. If the Philly O-line controlled the game and their backs ran on their D, then we can do so, probably even better, as our line and run game are better. We are going to the Super Bowl mates.

Exactly................the Achilles heel of the Falcons is their run defense, they are undersized to stop a team with a good running game. That is how Philly beat them and that is how we would go about playing them as well.

If we don't turn the ball over, it is going to be very hard for Atlanta to beat us with their undersized front 7.
