I forgot just how incredibly good Dez was

I don't know if he will or won't. I guess we will see, but that is a long ways away.
You will see and you suggested they weren't going in despite the person in charge of putting them in ther ealready stating they will.

Just sa you're wrong.

The one thing Dez did better than any Cowboys receiver, other than winning jump ball battles was scoring TDs. He scored 41 TDs in the three great years he had in 2012, 2013 and 2014. That was only 2 short of what TO scored in SF in 2000, 2001 and 2002. TO scored 38 TDs in the three seasons he was with the Cowboys.
That was because the game had changed though. Irvin had great hands and would be good at those contested balls as well. He had everything that Dez had plus he could route run. Dez wouldn't have set any records on those 90's teams.

After watching some Dez film I forgot just how incredibly good he was. I think he is arguably as good as anyone who ever played the position for the cowboys.
Thoughts?
Maybe a HOFamer if he’d been willing to work at it. Great player; poor professional.
Jesse Holly talks about what a beast Dez was….never watched film, didn’t work on routes much, would get up after a night of partying, eat a couple handfuls of gummy worms for breakfast, show up to the facility 5 minutes before practice, no stretching, and then just kick DBs butts and go over them for catches. Eat a couple whoppers for dinner…..lol.

He was truly amazing, but he could have been much more so and for a longer time if he had taken care of himself and sought perfection. He definitely deserves his spot in the 88 club.

I remember the game Dez freaked out about not getting the ball. The next series it was 3rd down and Dez dropped an easy wide open pass.

So ixnay on the greatest wr-nay.

Dez was amazing at YAC. Yet Garrett refused to call plays to get him in space. Run a go, run a stop, never run a slant. Romo would get Dez into motion and move him around, and call slants for him.

If he had a good OC. He would have been even better.

Unfortunately for Dez he refused to hone is craft like a Larry Fitzgerald. Once he lost the ability to physically out perform the other guys. And because he couldn’t lean on his route running to get open, he started to fade.
You nailed it ............I was reading an article 3-4 years ago from a former Cowboy scout about Romo and how he was like an offensive coordinator on the field. How he knew the plays coming in from the sideline before they reached the huddle. He also mentioned how Romo knew Dez's strength and weaknesses or limitations and would change plays accordingly. He knew the routes Dez struggled with and would change plays. This is why Dez struggled once Dak became the starter.

As stated, he wasn't a student of the game and IMO he probably left at least 2-3 years of career stats on the field.

He was a great contested ball receiver, probably the best in the league during his prime and he caught a lot of TDs but he’s down the list of all time great Cowboys receivers. He only had 3 great seasons and wasn’t a good route runner. He had a difficult time separating which is why he was in so many contested ball battles. He’s best remembered for a catch that didn’t count. He’s behind Irvin, Pearson, Hayes and TO on the all time Cowboys list.
I always wanted to see him used in more crossing routes. I felt like that was his strength. He was a great reciever but we’ve had a few great ones and he’s not the greatest

He gained a lot of yards after the catch but after his injury his YAC went down. Early in his career he was hard to bring down, similar to Deebo.
