I Got Nostalgic Today

I just ordered the sign on Amazon. $7 off, so it retails for $17.99. To find it I typed "Dallas Cowboys Retro Wood Sign" in Amazon's search thing.
Good info, thanks.

And thank you. I have loved the Cowboy on a horse logo since I was a kid, and I'm happy to see it used more by the team. I've asked the family to get me a retro shirt with that on the front for Christmas.

On gameday now they even have it on the big board overhead, with the horse clumsily trotting across the screen, although I wish that they had done a better job with the graphics.

I'm a little confused by the name. I've head the logo character referred to both as "Cowboy Joe" and "Cowboy Bob" Which is it? (Or does he have a very southern sounding name like "Joe Bob"? :)

I've heard both too, so I honestly don't know. I used Bob so it wouldn't be confused with the poster here who goes by Joe.

That wooden cowboys sign is really cool.

I might pull a hostile and ask for that for christmas.

Then again kickers 40 years ago weren't built like linebackers...

I remember when kickers were also linemen: Lou Groza & Lou Michaels come to mind.

Pat Summerall was also a kicker and played DE as well. Prior to the late 60s very few players were just kickers, most played other positions and many were starters at those positions. Yale Lary was an All-Pro DB as well as one of the greatest punters of all time.

Why ask? I'm going to pull a Corleone and order one without asking my wife.

You sound like my wife. She orders and then asks later.:laugh2:

I ask so I get something I will actually like.

Cowboys stuff, John Wayne DVDs, and tools. I am easy to shop for.

One thing that has never been plain though is the cheerleaders. How many of you also had this poster on your walls?

I fell in love with redheads because of the redhead on the left. I looked it up on the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders website and I think her name was Suzette Russell. I was smitten with her whatever her name was.

Like I said, I got nostalgic today.
I am proud to say I had this poster:) The beautiful brunette in front was my favorite. I had this poster on the wall above my bed, right next to my poster of Olivia Newton-John :D

There's a chain hat store called "Lids" that you can find in many malls, and they sell a "Cowboy Joe" hat. The mall near me has one of those stores and they've had that hat on clearance in there for as little as $5.

By the way, Hos, that redhead is Suzette Russell... the brunette in the front is Susie Holub.

In 1960, I went to see two games at the Cotton Bowl. These are images of the cover for the game programs.

The first one is the two time defending champions Baltimore Colts. We lost 45-7 on October 30, 1960.

This one is a game program from the old AFL, played on December 4, 1960 when the Dallas Texans beat the Houston Oilers 24-0.

It's "Cowboy Joe". The original name was "Bob", but that hardly saw the light of day. It's the only thing I really collect regarding the Cowboys.

Presently, I have a couple of pennants, a 60's-era sticker and rain poncho, a couple of patches and 2-3 each of caps and t-shirts.

I'd bid on a really cool Zippo lighter w/ the Cowboy Joe logo on in on Ebay a few years back, but I got outbid by another guy here in Dallas who's a huge collector.

Thanks for the info. I'll keep an eye out for it.
