I guess Henson will be back after next week

Fellas The Answer thinks it's time to put this particular topic to rest. Henson will be fine and I doubt that this knee injury is career threatening, but it is a setback for this kid considering he has many hurdles to overcome at this point in this shaky career. I wish he would have stayed 100% healthy because now all the Henson backers will use this as an EXCUSE if he does absolutely nothing yet again this summer to prove he's THE ANSWER for the future.

Injury or not, Henson is pretty much guaranteed to make this roster in 2006 unless we sign another veteran. But I don't see that happening unless Romo digresses and has very poor preseason. Plus Doug Flutie retired today, and that's pretty much the only other veteran I would have liked to see in the fold. The Little General would have been a great insurance policy.

The QB depth chart will read the same in the 2006 media guide as it did last year:

1) Bledsoe
2) Romo
3) Henson

With possibly one of the UDFA's making the practice squad.

At Michigan Henson broke a bone in his foot. He missed 1 or 2 games in which Navarre started. But Henson mentioned the Knee injury is the 1st major injury............which is common sense for those who know that a broken bone in the foot is minor compared to any ligament sprain or tear in the knee.

Parcells didn't consider last years hand injury worth mentioning in any of his assesments of Henson, therefore I chalk it up to bumps and bruises that 90% of the NFL players deal with throughout a season. Parcells wouldn't let a player compete if he thought that an injury would affect their performance. That would be sabotaging a player.

Parcells wouldn't sabotage Henson. Why would he? Henson was fine last year in camp. He was well enough compete, thats why his pedigree won't let him use the bump or bruise on his hadn as an excuse like some of his fans do.

I would argue that he did that with Derek Ross and wanted Rogers to play through an injury, that we don't have the details on, but it is known surgery was required.

Add Stephen Peterman too that list, IMO. I think he injured another leg, while trying to play through injury to one of his leg. I.e. I think he might have overcompensated for the injured leg with his non-injured leg, which I think many believe resulted in the ACL tear etc.

Although Parcells at that time said, the injury was not related to the first injury. I like how Parcells tries to re-inforce to players that they have to be tough, but I think it doesn't always work, causing more harm than good at times. But I guess that is hard to decide on.

Yes Jeff Mroz from Yale, I think we picked up another kid too but I don't remember.

As for Mroz, The Answer's scouting report on him says that he has great leadership in the huddle and was the best pocket passer in the Ivy League. He's a tall QB at 6'4 with a strong arm, puts zip on the ball and knows how to find the deep receivers. Very intelligent in the pocket, tons of upside. As far as his negatives he's pretty immobile and can't escape the rush, also needs to improve his elongated throwing motion.

Don't forget he worked out with Chris Palmer before the draft and impressed as well....might be a poor man's Drew Bledsoe in the making. A few years on the practice squad and he might be a player....Henson/Romo look out!

OT:

I saw Derek Ross and Jacob Rogers' names up there, and those situations could be considered very telling with regard to injuries and the NFL. Ross had the choice of having some cartiledge trimmed and getting back on the field in 4-6 weeks, or microfracture surgery, and miss a year. Ross had the cartiledge trimmed, got himself back out on field, and was shown the door later that year, regardless. Rogers elected to have the microfracture surgery or play through the pain (I don't think the surgical option to have the cartiledge trimmed was on the table for Rogers, but I could be mistaken). Rogers chose to have the surgery and miss a year, and he was shown the door immediately.

So the bottom line is yer damned if ya do and yer damned if ya don't.
