When Bledsoe chalks up a 22-4 record and actually leads a team to the playoffs this decade I'll start putting him in the same light as Ben R.

Ok, I agree with you but do you think with Eli playing in his rookie year as well and Rivers just starting to start, could one of them have a 22-4 record?

All that happened was that he went to a very good team that ran the ball twice as much as they threw it in his rookie season.

And when they go 8-8 this year do you think that they still will think Ben is the next Elway or whoever?

It is just it seems every fan has some man crush or man love for Ben. He went undefeated as a starter as a rookie because they ran the ball the most of any team of all time. Hell, half of their passing game was making ARE or Bettis throw the ball.
No offense to Winicki, but he seems to be one of those people. Yes, I do respect the gonads he has to come back from the bike accident but that was off the field, and he still hasnt proved me anything. He is far from a top 10 QB IMO.

one thing about ben is that 3 of his career losses have came when he missed the game before which means he gets rusty. i fully expect bena db the steelers to be ok.

All he has to do is hand the ball of 35 times a game and throw it like 18 times. If Eli or Rivers had to do that then we would be talking how they are one of the next great ones.

The original poster I was replying to said Ben R wouldn't have ever gotten on the field if he was drafted into the same stiuation as Bledsoe.

I didn't say anything about his talent or his level of play.

Carr and Plummer couldn't have taken that Steelers team to a SB, they make too many mistakes. Green and Brees though, maybe.

I don't think Ben is a top 5 QB. But I think Ben is great at being a bus driver, which is all you need with the Steelers defense and running game. I think Brad Johnson could do the same thing.

But strangely enough, there are a lot of NFL QBs that can't even do that. And Bledsoe often looks like one of them.

Neither Brad Johnson, Ben Hamburglar, or Trent Dilfer are great QBs. But they all have more rings than the "great" QBs of today such as Peyton Manning, Donovan McNabb, Daunte Culpepper, or Carson Palmer.

Why is that?

They don't make stupid mistakes when it counts. Now they may not have passed for 400 yards and 3 TDs a game, but their team won and they didn't screw it up. And if you have a good defense, that's all you need to win a Super Bowl.

Hell, that's what Tom Brady did to win 3 of them. Sure he has more talent than Johnson, Dilfer, or Hamburglar....but they won those SBs because Brady didn't make mistakes.

And conversely, that's why many believe that Manning, McNabb, Plummer, and Bledsoe..among others...will never win a Super Bowl. They make the mistake when it counts.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, if Brad Johnson is the QB in Dallas right now this team would knock at the door of Super Bowl XLI. He's not flashy and he's not the most talented guy, but he doesn't make stupid mistakes.

Bledsoe has that kind of record because it has always been about him. Only 1 time in his career with NE he had a RB go over 1000 yards and average 4 yards a carry in the same year which was 1995. In 1994 he lead the Pats to a 10-6 record with a RB who had 703 yards at 2.9 yards a carry. It is amazing he is over .500 having to carry crappy teams the majority of his career.

Again.. Big Bens record would be more like 4-22 if he was on the average NFL Team.
