I guess Louis Nix is too much to hope for, isn't he?

I would love to see the Irish Chocolate in a Cowboy uniform. And I would love even more what he could do for this team. I'd bet the Falcons, the Bucs, or the Vikings take him.

I did notice on an analysis page (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap20...-draft-order-top-three-needs-for-all-32-teams) that every team drafting above us lists a top need as something other than a DT, so I guess there is some chance that Nix falls to us. However, the same list fails to mention our top need as a DT. It says it's a DE. I don't think that's accurate, so I don't know that the list is accurate for the teams ahead of us either.

Sorry but this isn't a good idea. Nix just isn't a good fit for Dallas' scheme. He's a 3-4 NT, not a 4-3 "rushman."

I think Nix is a good fit for any scheme. I think he's the best DT prospect in this very deep draft. I like him better then Donald but I'm not sure he will be there and if he is, I'm not sure we will take him over Donald because of our scheme either.

the last thing we want is his fat rear

How about someone who can actually stand up against the run. You do realize that we were horrible against the run this year right? And he might not be warren sapp but he can push the pocket and force the qb to move off his spot. That's is exactly what we need..... along with a penetrating DT. That needs to be our 1st two picks.

I agree. I actually think Nix would be a good fit in any defense. He's not the slow, plugging fatso some thing he is simply because of his weight. He's not flashy enough for some, but he is the best DT in this draft.

That being said, I think the Steelers are gonna snatch him up.

Stephen Jones said recently "we can find 1-techs later in the draft".

Compare Justin Ellis to Nix. IMO, they are very similar (big but very quick for their size). Ellis will be a later round pick because he is a small school guy.

Great post. He's rated the number 1 defensive tackle for a reason. All these "a big guy can't get it done" posts are ridiculous. I guess Nate Newton was a wasted roster spot. But you're right. It's questionable that he's still there at 16. When the draft and free agent signings are over, this team must be upgraded at both DT and DE. If it's not, it will be another long season.

Nix has the habit of disappearing in big games. IIRC, he didn't do jack squat against AL in the title game and last year he was manhandled by Stanford. Or was he injured in one of those games? Either way, Although a disappearing act might be a little impressive for a 340 lb DL, I am not interested in seeing any Houdini acts from 1st rd picks.

If our D coordinator doesn't want a talent like Nix on his team then I want a new D coordinator. Seriously, Nix is an absolute beast and would help any defense. He's got a real shot to be the next Vince Wilfork, if you don't want that guy on your team you are flat out our of your mind.

Yea, Stephen really knows what he's talking about. Just look at their draft record.

of course the dozen other so called 'big games' that he played well in does not matter if you can find one or two that he did not.

But then you are a Romo hater as well so that disqualifies you as regards being taken seriously as regards assessing anyone...
