I guess rookies don't earn their Stars anymore

I really liked that idea, shame

I also really liked the water-fetching idea, Bill would have loved accepting water from the explosive Felix Jones, in there in a hurry

sorry, it's the offseason and those were one of my favorite offseason traditions that we had for a short-while, carry on

Pictures from Miami's minicamp showed the rookies with plain white helmets. Somehow I don't think making them earn a gay *** dolphin decal is the same as making them earn the star.

I liked that tradition to but it was a Parcells tradition and the team is trying to move on from the iron handed style of Parcells.

I loved that idea. That should be mandatory for all rookies. You don't wear the star or logo until you make the 53 man opening week roster.

They wore stars at the 2007 minicamp as well. Wade doesn't play mindgames.

Never liked it anyway.

To me when you're signed or drafted, you're a Cowboy until cut.

To me Felix is a Cowboy now...just like all the other rookies are.

I thought it was silly to be honest.

Without stars 0 Super Bowls.
With stars 5 Super Bowls.

Definitely a cool tradition, but it's not like Parcells invented it. We did that at my highschool.

I always thought it was kinda dumb for a first rounder to have to "earn his star". He is a freaking 1st rounder and even if he sucks, he is going to be on the team for several years (see Carp).

It would be like felix wearing a blank helmet, like there is a chance he is not going to make the team.

To me, if you are drafted or sign as a free agent, you are a Cowboy until you are released. The whole blank helmet thing just seems gay to me.

Commanders are doing it.

They also are incorporating Madden techniques to their camp.

We better be careful though. 7 points in All Madden would do a lot of good for Campbell's accuracy. He might be able to hit the broad side of a barn every now and again.

I thought it sounded like a good idea at the time. Now it seems kinda silly. Maybe it's because I really like this draft class and a couple of those undrafted free agents.

I think some of you may be confusing "earning your star" with "making the team". It's about having a ritual everyone goes through when they join the team, having that sense of belonging. It's not about whether or not you suck. Miles Austin earned his star, and he sucks.

Earning the Star was a sort of cool tradition. But the water boy tradition was a just plain stupid mindgame and I am glad it is gone. It was part of what I hated about Parcells overbearing personality.

you're right Count, I liked it, because it made the higher draft choices think twice about slacking off just because they were high draft picks, it's just another incentive to work harder, not that I'm fearing that from this draft class, it seems to be filled w/ strong worth ethics all throughout, I mean our 6th round pick played 6 games w/ turf toe, so I"m not worried about that at all, it was just a nice, little thing

I though Soprano was the head coach and Ireland was the GM. Have they done anything that Parcells didn't do elsewhere, including here in Dallas, on their own initiative? But we all knew Parcells would end up as VP/GM/HC. Read somewhere that Parcells was mentoring Ireland to succeed him, can't remember whose being mentored to become new DC in a few years, etc. I think it was our former secondary coach. And former Dallas QB coach David Lee was being mentored to become the next OC. No wonder all these guys left us for Miami. Wonder how many of them really end up with the positions Parcells promised them.

I always thought those stunts were high schoolish. Look where it got us...9-7 every year.
