Cut the Freeloader and use the money to keep Leary for a couple years

Too many fans in the FO and CZ for that kind of logic

even if we can't keep Leary let CGreen and Cleary fight it out.......it cannot get worse per capita dollars

I was really surprised by how well Cleary played in week 17, I think next year Green, Cleary and a draft pick compete for the RT job.

I could also see an older veteran brought to camp on a "one last season" kind of deal, on an incentive contract that wouldn't hurt the team if he was cut in training camp.

Just no Freeloaders looking to ride the wave of the Stampede(the OL)

Free is actually not that hard on the cap.... he took a pay cut to stay.

Leary is going to command top dollar. Free's money may make a dent towards it-- but Ronald gambled on himself and won the lottery this year.

He is gonna want to get paid and he deserves it. He will at least go out and test the market-- which will drive his price up.

Would you rather have Martin or Leary? You simply can't pay all of the OL and sign Dak and Zeke AND fix the defense.

We have to be smart and La'el Collins is a cheaper player than Leary with a higher ceiling and we control him for a couple more years... this decision has made itself.

Free's cap hit is 7.5m..... that is horrible for his production

Leary is a much better investment.....play Collins at RT or trade him for a young RT

Moving Collins to RT is easier said than done... he projects as a G in the NFL so do you want him to be a +rated G or an average OT?

I am not against releasing Free-- just against not having an adequate replacement. Chaz is injury prone, Cleary is not the answer-- and Collins is a question mark.

Beyond that-- you still have the issue of having to pay Leary top 5 OG money-- which he has earned. You will have to do that again to retain Martin in 2 years. You simply can't pay Smith, Frederick, Martin, and Leary top dollar.

The best solution in my opinion is to stay with Collins at LG, ask Free to take a paycut and remain the swing tackle and then draft a guy to compete with Chaz to start at RT.

Why can't we pay everyone?
I would take average at Collins at RT if it meant we could afford Leary..... Free gives us just below average for a huge cap hit..........Collins would do it for 600k

I am fine with going with CGreen and Cleary RT ....we could always trade Collins if we keep Leary

Free is not the best, but he is better than the options we currently have or he would not be starting in the first place. People sometimes think the whole anybody would be better mantra is realistic but it usually is not. Also Just taking a guy that is suited for OG and saying...oh he can move and Play RT is not always the right thing. No need to turn an all pro OG like martin to RT because then you have to replace an All Pro at a position. And just because Collins can play OG does not mean he would better at RT.

Green can't stay healthy.

We need a better option. If someone can stay healthy and beat out Doug Free...I will be happy.
