Kind of pissed off right now.

Went to a park today for a birthday party of a friend's kid. I parked pretty far out there as I usually do and there were lots of empty spaces. Unfortunately as the day went on the park got busier and the spaces filled in and people started parking next to my car.

I tried to keep pretty good watch on it when I could, but from where I was I wouldn't have been able to see much. I did see a few times where kids got out of cars right next to mine and it worried me.

When we went to leave I was sure to check the car over to make sure nobody did anything and sure enough as soon as I saw the driver's side of the car I saw a white spot that looked odd. I got closer and let out a Mother ****** as it was a very clear dent with a deep scratch about the side of a pencil eraser.

Why can people not pay attention when they open their car doors? Why do people not watch their kids? Is it that hard to realize that you should be careful when you park next to a nice car? And why can people not have the decency to take responsibility when they damage someone's car? Too many people are just stupid careless *******s.

I thought you were going down a road to a story that we live with in Hawaii every day.

If you go to a Luau or Graduation or Wedding...........any event where parking is limited, people just park where ever the next space is open. Many times, your car will be pinned in 3, 4 or 5 cars deep. If you decide to leave early or anything like that, you're stuck until these folks are ready to leave.

It's a common thing here, so anytime I decide to go to any big function, I park like a half-mile away and just walk. Once, I had to wait over 4 hours rather than starting a fight over people moving their cars. This is also a major fire or emergency hazard as well.

That would suck too, but it just kills me to have this on my car now:

I always hold on to my door when I get out of my car. I have only lost control of a few times when the wind caught it.

Wow, that looks purposefully done. It's the price you pay for driving a nice car. I have a ding repair guy I use ($50-100 per dent depending on size, etc.). Sometimes it's not perfect, but it's damn close.

I think that's how 99% of dents happen.

As far as the dent above, you should see all the dings on my truck. It will make you feel a lot better.

When I traveled to Europe a few months ago I don't think I saw a car without a dent.

People park so close to one another that I think dented bumpers are expected. Seemed like everyone just accepted that their car was going to get dinged cause there was nothing they could do about it.

As for the OP, I feel for ya. Nice cars seem to be targets nowadays. I've seen people do some really detestable things to other people's cars. Couple drunk teenagers in the building I live in thought it would be cool to throw liquor bottles and other stuff out their window and ended up smashing a guys windshield.

I find it to be like that in most big cities in the US. Anyone that's lived in DC or Boston could vouch for that. It's not uncommon to see people pushing other people's cars with their own to try and fit into a parking spot. It's one of the downfalls to buying an attractive car...not that I don't see why one would expect others to respect others property...they should, but unfortunately, that just isn't realistic these days.

I feel your pain... had a similar situation once

I've been thinking of getting new wheels for my car but I've been hesitant for fear that someone would just end up stealing them eventually

Unfortunately that's how we're forced to think about things now

Do they sell alarm systems that would go off if someone was trying to take your wheels?

I had a friend who was driving his girl's car, and he went to the mall parking lot

he came back and someone scratched "niger" on her driver-side door, yes, spelled exactly like that

that's just ignorance times 3

There are are few cars at my office complex that park too close to other cars. It is always the same ones and they park so close that you can't help but ding their doors when trying to get into your vehicle. They are just too careless when they park too close to the edge of the parking space. I still try to be respectful if they happen to park next to me and make sure that although the car door touches their car that it doesn't hit their car. If it keeps happening I may change my approach. It is getting ridiculous.

If someone parks so close to my car I can't get in it even though I am in the center of the parking space......they are getting dinged. I'm not climbing over the console of my own car. I'm too fat for that.
