I HATE the BandWagon People!

I have been a cowboys fan since birth it seems. Now the last several years, bangwagon fans have not been much of a problem.. but now.. they are everywhere.

I live in Houston,, been here for almost 1 year now, and I have worn the same Cowboy gear, all year..whether I am out at dinner, or just shopping or whatever, I usually have on at least one of my hats.

In the last 2-3 weeks,, everywhere I go, people are stopping wanting to talk about the Cowboys,, and saying "go cowboys" or something. For the last year, I couldn't find a Cowboy's fan if I looked,, now they are everywhere.

I just really don't like "fans" that only like a team when they win. I was actually stopped by a guy at a local retail store,, and he was telling me how much of a fan he was, blah blah blah,, then asked how i thought DAT was doing this year!!!! I just walked away.

I just hate the bang wagon fans.. forgive my rant!

LOL GREAT POST! :laugh2:

me and my friends were watching the super bowl last year, and we're pulling for the Seahawks because as Cowboy fans we couldn't root for the steelers. Well my wife's sister and brother came in talking about how great the steelers were and how they love them. I simply asked "if you love them so much, what's their QB's name?" they couldn't answer so I told them if you can't even name the QB then shut the hell up, so they did.

Some bandwagoners become lifetime fans. We all started rooting for the Cowboys at some point for whatever reason. Time is the true test, but who's to say that these people won't settle in and stick with the Cowboys from here on out?

I actually don't have a problem with so called bandwagon fans but then that leads to a discussion of what constitutes such a fan. I've got a friend whose a Cowboy fan but certainly not a fanatic like me who lives and breathes Cowboys and goes into depression for about 2 days after any loss and won't talk about it. My friends know not to come me on Sunday and certainly not if Cowboys lose--not that they know that. In other words I call them if I want to talk not vice versa. Anyway doubt my friend could name even one player but does know Parcells is our coach. i guess my point is you can still be a Cowboy fan w/o wearing all the gear & constantly on the internet tracking the team.

Also when the Cowboys were losing which has been essentially since 97 I certainly didn't talk about my team and if I did it was only with other dedicated Cowboy or football falls. It's no fun talking about losing and how we gonna improve.

I was reading ExtremeSkins board (I never post) and saw them complaining about all so called Cowboy fans are only bandwagon fans and if they couldn't identify at least 3 Cowboy players then they should be ignored. Gotta admit that's probably right but most of the world simply aren't as dedicated as many of us other and many other fans who follow other teams.

The reality is that something about the Cowboys, particularly when they winning, that stirs up the rest of the country and those fans start following our team. Maybe some follow us cause it's trendy but I think there's simply a lot of people who like the Cowboys and wish us well and want us to win. Why in the board do you think the networks want the Cowboys on television as much as they can get them. They know the ratings will go thru the roof. In fact Cowboys are at the maximum numbers of games they can be shown on around the country and bet the media isn't happy about that.

Of course with all the love the Cowboys get, there's also the envy/hatred from fans of other teams. Hey, when you play in the SB 8 times and win 5 SBs that means we have beaten up a lot of teams. Also don't forget we won how many straight seasons during most of the Landry years. Of course other teams hate us. We've had 2 HOF QBs and several HOF RBs; many teams are still trying to find 1 quality QB. Now, we've got a starter who was undrafted and a backup for little over 3 years and low and behold he starts in place of Bledsoe and how is at the top of the QB ratings. Talk about envy/jealous.

That is the way it is pal...
I've been a Cowboys fan since I was 8 years old...back since the Ice Bowl.
The deal is, it is every where, and with every team. Why I hate the Dolphins....is when I lived near the area [14 years]. When they won..everyone loved them. When they lossed, it was....well, I'm from....[insert area] and I always liked [insert team]....talking about bandwagoners...it happens. Especially..the ...I liked the Cowboys until JJ & JJ shatted on Landry...just another excuse to to bandawagon....ok, my rant is over also. :)

I dont care about them, its just people that claim to know football and dont know s*** at all. As long as I KNOW WHAT TYPE OF FAN I AM, then i could care less if they are bandwagoners. Plus if we have bandwagoners, it means we are winning right? and we all love when we win!!!!

I have been a fan since 1998, born in 89', so i missed all the great SB victories, etc. Hell i am still waiting to witness our first playoff win since i became a fan, I know deep down that i am an avid die hard fan, and that i will be til death, those bandwagoners cant say the same!!!

Me and my girl went out today with our Cowboys Clothing..I had Roy Williams and SHe ahd Julius Jones. We had people stop us left and right saying " Go cowboys"

BAndwagon or not it feels good...Oh and DAt is playing good last I checked:lmao:

Hey, you gotta start somewhere... And if you're a fan to any degree, you're cool in my book.

I'm more of a die hard fan that gets on players' and coaches' banned wagons....

i was a band wagoner, jumped on at the 95 superbowl game. i only stopped watching them for two years though, but thats because i was 13 and 14 throught those years, i was busy skateboarding and what not. but i came back, it was like riding a bike, never forgot how to love. but i came back to those awfull 3 years...i forever hate my height.

Everybody is talking about the Cowboys, hell even my gf is watching the games with me now. She is gonna go shopping with her mom on sunday but told her mom she has to get home in time to watch the Cowboys!
She got a sister? Hell, how old's the mom?

Yes, bandwagon fans makes it hard for true fans. But all teams have them, so get over it. The only thing that counts is your feelings toward your team. Its like you win the lottery and all of a sudden, you have family you never knew about lol. Enjoy the good times while they are here,.

you can't have it both ways.

you can't be a good team without bangwagon fans, so....what do you hate less?

the bandwagoners, or losing?

what i hate is being a cowboys fan my whole life, and then being called a bandwagon fan when they're winning. :bang2:

I love football and my team is the Dallas Cowboys been that way since I was a kid watching the games with my dad in the late 70's.

Some people watch the games, some people stop and a few really committ to the team.

A wise man said "Do not hinder him; for he who is not against you is for you."

If they preach the Dallas Cowboys I say amen to that :)

Cowboys fans are all bandwagoners in the eyes of other fans "What's that you didn't take an active interest in football until you were 9 and coincidentally the Cowboys began winning Super Bowls again!? You bandwagoner!" Yeah what can I say, I began paying attention just in time for the second dynasty and I'm such a badwagoner I rooted through mediocrity, three 5-11 seasons and Quincy Carter, I'm truly fickle:rolleyes:

Two points to make:

1. You obviously weren't looking very hard, because Cowboy fans are everywhere, and have been even during the leanest of times. I don't recall this board being any less active during the Testeverde/Bledsoe horror years. You're obviously seeing what you want to see.

2. Wearing 'Cowboy gear' at dinner isn't exactly something to be boasting about.

Depends whether he is eating at Morton's or McDonald's.

Maybe so they suck, but they are a large part of the whole "America's Team" thing. Without them, we aren't even close to being that. They are what makes our star shine so insanely bright at times, dimming others to mear dust.
