Jerry Jones doesn't evaluate, study, assess, investigate, analyze, examine.....

He doesn't have the experience and talent, created through years of success, starting at the bottom and earning his way up to each level.

Jerry gambles. Jerry takes risks, hoping for the results that make it worthwhile......and failing the majority of the time.

There's a reason all those big hotels in Las Vegas are so beautiful and ornate. In the end, the house always wins.

It’s not the QB contracts; Rams Lions Chiefs Packers Jets Eagles Bills Ravens Are all doing fine with the qb Contracts

It’s a GM idiot test. The only reason to change it is because some teams can’t figure it out
Now more than ever you need a great GM and Director of Player Personnel… Dallas is really operating with neither. Puts you behind the 8 ball.

If this year's team represents a legitimate attempt to improve the team
I missed it, and you hit the nail on the head... other than paying Dak, exactly where did JJ try to improve the team? EDIT JJ took way too long to figure out what the heck they were doing with Dak in the first place IMO...

I didn't see any running backs he (JJ) went after. So what did he (JJ) go after to try and improve the team?

That said, to some extent, from what I've seen, the Giants didn't really try to improve their team as well (per a no win situation with Barkley, which tells me the Giants suck) which I don't see being the case with the cowboys, because they made the playoffs last year and always seem to be at the top of the NFC East.

In a nutshell, the cowboys seem so close, yet so far away which leaves me scratching my head.

The chiefs seem to be in the same position over the last couple of years, but it's not the first playoff game, but winning or losing the SB.

People talk about the Chiefs being a NFL "dynasty" these years, but where do they rank per money wise per money value of a NFL team?

Got stuck watching the Eagles game, only thing on.

I had to look at the stats, but as of today, Henry is the #1 rusher in the the NFL for the season and Barkley is the #2 rusher.

Do I think either teams will make it to the SB this year? Probably not.

That said, getting forced to watch this game showed me exactly what Barkley does for the Eagles. The Eagles at least showed that they took a risk to get their team better. Likewise, the Ravens did the same thing with Henry. The obvious of course is I don't really see JJ trying to make his team better.

I don't consider myself a Dak lover or hater, but when you don't really have a running game that the defense has to respect, the reality is it just makes it that much harder on your QB.

Why oh why couldn't the billionaire owner of the Cowboys at least try to get Henry on the team? The reality is who didn't think Zeke was washed up except for JJ?

Sorry for the rant. Didn't get to see much of Henry play during this season, but man, other than Browns TD reception, it seemed like Barkley won the game for the Eagles today.
A similar thread has been posted here in the last two weeks. It's simple: A Henry is NOT going to put the Cowboys anywhere near the SB or even the playoffs. This defense is historically bad as well as the offensive line.

Pay for performance - it's the best thing the NFL could implement. Jerry wouldn't be stuck paying someone like Dak 60 mil a season if that was how QB's were paid.

Unfortunately, this has zero chance of ever happening
NFLPA would never allow it.

There should be a QB salary cap .

It is hurting teams' ability to hire multiple stars .
Cmon man not that I think the signing was quality but do you really believe that’s why we don’t have a quality RB in here?

Jerry has the money there’s room with the cap Jerry just dumb and selfish and stubborn

But a qb cap would be cool

Not enough to sign multiple players with talent , Jerry is in cap hell . He can only pay a few , not a good team .

He could pay a RB , but what about an OL , or TE ? etc . . .

Wait we got multiple players with talent? J/k the 2 paydays looming are parsons and Tyler smith the cap is going up he could do it

Parsons my 3rd or 4th favorite player but if Jerry was smart he’d trade him

My point is anytime the Cowboys have been anything in their history they have had a bell cow back. It’s really that simple. Go back and look for reference

C'mon man it was Hurts that carried the Eagles.

Dak has to get better at handing the ball off like Troy did, so we can rush for 270 yards and 6 yards a carry like the Eagles.

The players rule in the nfl… the second they get the bag they rest on there laurels the rest of the way… good teams suck it up and ship them out and take the hit like the broncos with Russell wilson

I read the other day Henry spends 150k a year on his body. He employs everything from trainers to nutritionist. Love to see players who commit to that extent. That's how legends are made.

Of course, Jerry wasn't interested...

QB contracts are hurting other players , it needs to be negotiated .
Likley AFC playoff teams
Ravens - Lamar Jackson $52M APY
Chiefs - Patrick Mahomes $45M
Bills - Josh Allen $43M
Chargers - Justin Herbert $52.5M
Texans - CJ Stroud - $9M rookie deal (2023 2nd overall pick)

Likely NFC playoff teams
Lions - Jared Goff $53M
Buccaneers - Baker Mayfield $33M
Packers - Jordan Love $55M
Vikings - Sam Darnold $10M
Commanders - Jayden Daniels - $9M rookie deal (2024 2nd overall pick)

It's not the QB salary, it's the Owner and his son who have no earthly clue what they are doing. Plenty of very good teams paying their QB a bigtime deal. Darnold is the exception, not the rule.

Owners collectively standing their ground and demanding incentive based pay on these high end contracts would do the trick. Problem is they're all focused on getting their guy at all costs that they don't care about the consequences it brings to the league, and the product on the field. DeShawn Watson's contract is fully guaranteed, even after all of the crap that happened in Houston. That's absolutely insane.
”Owners collectively standing their ground” will get them in front of a Federal Labor Board and in court. That option is not legal in the United States.

I was reading up about Watson today after his injury.

I never realized how screwed the Browns really are with him.
They screwed themselves. They saved Jerry from being saddled with having done the most ridiculously stupid trade and contract ever.
