My original post was mainly a joke about understanding if you have been a fan for a long time, but it rings a note of truth.
What you have to understand is that many of us have listened to ignorant 2nd year fans for 40 years and it's always the same thing. Always calling for the backup QB after a few bad games, thinking we should trade our starting RB because our 2nd stringer puts up nice yards coming off the bench, analyzing a play and not knowing what coverage responsibilities or a passing tree are, etc. etc.
Basically what we have now is all these Madden guys coming in trying to tell everyone they know what is right, even though history has shown differently. We have raised an generation of people who conveniently have 'sources' and also a veil of anonymity.
The point is, before you go spouting off nonsense and then getting mad when someone corrects you, think about how many skins you have against the wall.
I'll add this. Some of you don't know what's it's like to go through the ups and downs of being a champion. In the 70s, our team was always competative, we didn't know anything about not making the play offs.
In the 80s, it was weird for us to be at the verge for like 3 years in a row, and then being mediocre for the remaining of the 80s, it was horrible.
In the 90s, the 70s and 80s guys appreciated all the super bowls, because during the 80s, we had our arses handed to us.
And now in the 2000s, we're just tired of seeing the same old crap. Until you experienced years and years of painful football, and years and years of great football, you will never know what a true fan is. I'm almost 37, I've seen a lot of great Cowboys football, and I've seen alot of crap. So just respect the older guys, they've been through alot, and you can learn a thing or 2.
