I have never been able to understand the lack of respect for Malik Davis

If you knew a thing about blocking you would know it was the OL. Schottenheimer literally said that walking off the field at half time.
He said it again at today's press conference. Linemen weren't getting low enough or getting movement in the first half.

That being said, he also didn't take anything away from Davis or Abanikanda's play.

I still think they believe in Blue to be the change-up to Williams. Mafah seems to more of a question mark. Health hasn't been on his side his two years here, so he's going to miss out on some opportunities to prove that blocking was to blame while Davis gets the chance to make sure he's one of the three backs on the roster. If he performs again like he did last weekend, it would be tough to keep Mafah over him.

He is absolutely our best option at RB 2. Was last year as well. In fact since he has been with the team he has done nothing but produce when given the opportunity. IMO he is the very definition of what a solid RB 2 looks like in the NFL. He may not be GREAT at anything,....but he is good at EVERYTHING. He is the type of runner where if the O line has 4 yards blocked up he will get you those four yards and once in a while break one for more. You don't see him running into the backs of the O lineman or trying to take it outside only to end up getting stoned at the LOS when taking the easy 4 would have been the smart play. Blue to me is a boom or bust guy,....quite honestly he looks to my eye like a disaster just waiting to happen. P M is another Solid guy like Davis but is at least a notch or two below. Seems like we are wasting a whole lot of time looking for this phantom RB 2 when the truth is we already have him and he has been here the whole time.
Same here

It does seem that he is good at everything. Rushing, blocking and playing ST.

Having said that, no other teams seems to want him because he gets exposed to waivers every year.

Teams tend to make final roster decisions based on who they think will or will not get claimed.
- The Cowboys probably assume that Davis will not get claimed and can be put on the practice squad to start the season.

Davis has had a steady job here with the cowboys for a long time.
He had a lot of injuries when he was first starting out.
But thru different coaches, he keeps getting signed to a bkup role.
He looked good last year and the year they forced elliot on the team.

someone needs to ask shotty this question of why isnt davis the # 2?
So write clarence hill and ask him to ask!

I preferred using Malik Davis as our #2 RB with no reservations from what I've seen recently and long before that. He has a knack for turning seemingly unimpressive blocks into healthy gains. It was evident when first I noticed his running capabilities in the past, and it hasn't changed at all.

Quite slitthery through the hole

Davis is a good solid runner. But they have been trying to replace him since that playoff game against th 49ers where Pollard got hurt and they wouldn’t play him something about his attitude.

This is what the coaches think of Malik Davis. It also shows what the nfl thinks of him. No other team has shown interest.

Yikes!

He’s used to taking the walk.

Poor guy.

It's obvious why people don't respect Davis.

He was an Undrafted RFA on the roster the last 4 seasons and been waived 3 times.

He had chances to prove he belonged on an NFL roster, but somehow kept getting relegated despite us not having a stacked RB room (no other teams stole him, either).

It's extremely rare for this to be the case and then develop into an NFL capable back, so it feels like we're just kind of stuck with this guy who probably doesn't belong in the NFL.

With that said, he looks decent.
