Jerry hasn't done anything in the last 25 years in FA anyway. Dak is by far the best qb in the division which means we have a leg up on making the playoffs every single year that he is here.

Being the best in this division certainly ain't saying much. Its the worst division for a reason. And so what if you win the worst division, the goal should be to win the NFC . Set higher goals.

Hell, when was the last time he won on the rd or won 2 in a row let alone 3 like dalton did with probably one of the worst lines in team history...let that sink in.
I believe if the line is fully healthy you could get to the NFC Championship with Dalton for next 2 years by using that 40 million defense, and draft picks acquired in a trade for Dak to build up the defense.

Dalton showed he’s capable of getting it done when he has a great supporting cast. Plus if he had a dominant D he wouldn’t need to put up 35 a game.

Here is my opinion of why I think Jerry has a problem signing Dak:
Romo had problems and everyone said he needed to sign OL. So Jerry went out and got Great OL, three or four paid at the top of their positions.
They needed a RB, so he got the best out there, and with that OL he was the best -- and demanded to be paid like it.
They had a receiving issue, so he went and got an awesome route running WR -- who wanted paid.

All these high priced players, should make an avg QB look good. Top WR, Top RB, Top OL.
Jerry thought the name of the Cowboys and the fact that he put all these top players there would make the QB want to take a little less, and stay; especially since these guys had made him look good.

Only Dak hired an agent that said: "No I want my guy to be the highest paid -- look at how good my guy is -- after Jerry paid the OL, WR, RB".
Jerry doesn't mind paying, but paying for a 4-12 and 8-8 seasons wasn't what he was bargaining for.

Will Dak get paid -- Yes. Will Dak get paid what his agent wants by the Dallas Cowboys -- Not likely.

IMO, if Dak hasn't signed long term before the draft, then Dak won't be in Dallas past one more year. They will make new plans without Dak in them for the following year, and Tag him this year. They not just won't tag him the next year, they won't try to negotiate with him either.

15% of a $180M is $27M. One of 52 players making 15% of your cap gets problematic. Dak's agent seems to want much more than that. This is still a team game, regardless of what agents seem to think.
I say tag him and if he’s not signed to a long term deal by April 1, trade him so you get something for him. Having 2 top 10 picks in multiple rounds this year would fix things in a hurry.

Dalton can be a bridge to the next QB if the OL is fully intact

Yeah, especially if winning super bowls isn't in your goals.

he didn't turn down 35, he actually wanted less. he wanted a 4 year deal rather than a 5 year deal. he led the #1 offense before his injury. he led the #2 offense last year. he led the #1 offense in 2018, after we got cooper.

but I guess you like Dalton...right? its all about how cheap they are, perhaps we can just go with Gilbert and sign 11 defensive FA with the 30M we save. right?

sorry man hes not signed because he doesnt want to be, not because of jerry ..their offers were more then fair..he snot elite nor should 35 be not enough for him..offers were made more then fair..i lost respect for dak over this and that my decsions and my opinion..

hope they work it out but like life change is going to happen and ill get over it if he elaves..it happens to the best of them..

all those blaming the jonses after seeing whats been going on with every first round pick from 2009-2016 is now gone for their drafted teams and goff nd wentz were very much on daks level and what happened with those deals and those teams?

Jones were smart to wait and see and try and get team friendly deal..sorry but that for me to decide and i have zero issues with them staying on the FT pone more year and parting ways if that what it comes down too, also would welcome Dak as our QB ,..not big deal either way..

oi risk it no biscuit! _) :)

this i sports not lif and detah..im cool either way

In a down cap year at about 180 to 185 Mil. Paying Dak almost 40 puts your pe**** in the sand. I get it but, nothing special this year either. Dallas needs defense. Plain and simple. I can save a lot of you the trouble. If he plays on the tag again its going to be tough. For him and Cowboys fans. It would have to be perfect and we all know its slim.

LOL. dalton beat 3 teams with 4 wins each and their back up QBs playing...when was the last time dallas played three 4 win teams in a row

2018, Dak went 7-1 in the last 8 games. lead us to playoffs. when was the last time Dalton did that?
2018 is long time ago..what has he done lately? 3-5 years no playoffs.. 7-11 record.. if zeke doesnt get to hold onto 201-2018 neither does dak..this is about NOW 7-11 and major injury..that not something n you risk the franchise ion unless you get flexible team friendly deal..sorry once he crossed that 34mil threshhold i get nervous..hes not that QB and other were the others and now they are gone off their teams..

it takes two to tango. Dak said 4, Jerry said 5 and neither budged and there were reports that in the end Dak wanted to just sign and get it over with, but it was too late....

and your opinion of what he is worth and my opinion for that matter don't matter. the market, based on 32 teams, available resources and their evaluations set the values....goff was 33, wentz about the same, beofre them wilson about 32, or so, now its moved to 40 with watson and elite gets 50M and probably a redo and up him to 60M in a few years.

I believe every year there is probably at most 2 or 3 elite QBs. and right now that market is at 50M. Brady took less, because he is 42, he has had several contracts, his wife makes more than him and he just wants rings. he is the exception not the rule.

you look at the circumstances.....GB had 7-9 and then 6-10 record in 17 and 18. should they have gotten rid of Rodgers? no, the problem was coaching. they got a new coach and back on track. 18 was sheer will of Dak, cooper and the rest of the team, given Linehan was a hinderance and players ran their own plays instead of what the OC called. that's dysfunctional team and coaching. in 19, the coaches were on a one year deal, no extension, and they were fighting and screaming at each other on the sideline. a rookie OC, that jerry in essence said should report to him not the head coach. the coach cost 3 games, ala freeze your own kicker and lose a game....that's dysfunctional. to expect players to overcome a meddling GM, a coach that's going to get fired and has no contract under a superbowl or bust ultimatum.....going 8-8 was a miracle...like I said circumstances.....

and the QB market is where it is. supply and demand. with brees now retired, there is 3 elite QBs in the league. that's it. Brady is 43, Rodgers is 39 and Mahomes is the only young viable elite QB.

Watson got 40M. goff, wentz got 33+. Wilson signed in 19 and got 35 and his next contract will be in the 45 range. that's where the market is......

I do, if I have to pay him 40M a year, I am going to have to go back to well liquor and give up the good stuff.

That is why Jerry stopped in that convenience store to buy some cheap stuff. :muttley:
He is getting ready to be broke. :lmao:

Wilson won a superbowl, went to another one, but had a strong strong running game, a very top notch defense, really good coaching. since then he hasn't done much and is 1-3 in the playoffs. so was it him? or was it the support he had.

Dak being the best QB in the division is a meaningless point. We play in the worst division in football against the worst collection of Qbs in football. The goal here is a super bowl not a division title. We cannot win a super bowl with a QB making 20-25% of the salary cap. Literally nobody has done it. We have the #10 pick. Its a perfect opportunity to draft a QB and there are several in this draft.

I’m telling you right now I’m getting tired of Jerry and the teams he puts together.. but above all that I think the old man is losing his marbles and has the biggest ego I’ve ever seen.

Dak gets better every year; works his butt off and is a leader. That’s Tom Brady’s biggest attribute, not his talent. He’s a hard *** worker, prepares, is confident and leads his team.

If you can’t see the value in a player like Dak, or at least see the upside in keeping a player like that then we are on polar opposites. And as far as I’m concerned if the Cowboys don’t sign Dak then maybe this franchise isn’t about winning.
