I hope K. Brooking rubs off on others ...

A couple of average games and one good play and you are ready to anoint him.
Man love at its worst.

As far as leadership goes he has done way better than Zach Thomas and I think everyone can agree with that. He played a brilliant game in Denver but his teammates let him down which seems to be the case these days.

You want leadership? Go talk to Tony Robbins or Jimma.

I don't get the man love for this reject from Atlanta who was/is on his last legs and was brung here because his pal is Wade.
Leadership is all good and all but we need young players to build around with. Not stop-gaps and that is all he is expected to be.
He truly is not all that. Watch the film.

Brooking's backup/replacement is on IR - Stephen Hodge so no young players to play ILB. I don't think he is the answer for the weakside ILB spot but he does bring an attitude that others can feed off of no doubt and that should count for something.

Attitude is bluster. All I want from the Cowboys is proficiency and a fear and respect for their coach. Leave the attitude for the divas.

Brooking is the **** I love his approach of the game and how He plays with passion.

We need more guys like this and I think He is one of the main reason why our defense is playing better.

I'll give you respect but Fear? Come on these are grown men who come and go in the NFL players move constantly and make big bucks these guys do not fear coaches not even Singletary if have you talent some one will pick you up, look around the league at some of these thugs they don't fear coaches what so ever. It really is a bit of joke to think some old dude hollering at a 25 or 26 year old millionair is shaking in his boots because coach is hollering. 1st thing out of the players mouth is then trade me!

You're right. They are grown men. They shouldn't need a kick in the pants to get up for a game. They're being paid to do a job no matter the size of the paycheck.

If you've got enough leaders then respect works. If you don't, then you need the fear. We need the fear.

Fear my friend, is how Jimmy built a SB contender year after year. If you don't think Singletary isn't feared just ask his tight end whom he benched last year. Called sendinig a message.

Fear of what? Do you think a man 6-6 over 300 pounds is in fear of a coach?

Jimmy put fear into the likes of Curvin Richards and bottom feeders on a roster that should be a bit fearful but all in all when you have players who are making more money than the coach they are not scared of them.

This is not the 1960 when players were much different than what we see today.

When it comes to respect and trust then I agree with you

Fear of a J.O.B. They spend money according to their income.

Curvin Richards? Apples and oranges. What about making Troy take a cab to the airport cause he missed the Team bus due to an interview that went too long? Irvin left behind on a flight because he was late and then didn't 'start' that game? NO ONE was above the team. If Irvin and Troy were chastised.................NO ONE was safe. Fear ran rampant and a blind man could see that.

Job? these guys move on to other teams and make money, BP cut Bryant for his action is he out of work now? I don't think so. Jimmy never cut one single top name player. Lett screwed up twice one cost us a game did Jimmy cut him? Did Jimmy slam him in front of the media? No yet Wade is to rake Romo over the coals as well as any other player. Jimmy himself said there were 2 different set of rules for his top players and the guys hanging on. Don't kid youself Irvin and Troy were never in any danger of being cut

That brings to mind Jimma's treatment of Lett. I never knew that Jimma had a heart until Lett began to screw up (the infamous touching the ball in the snow agin the Dollspins and the hot-dogging near the end zone in the Super Bowl). Jimma addressed the press and basically tolt it to lay off. He explained that Lett was a super-shy guy who was not good at verbal communication etc. Jimma showed a lot of heart in defending that manchild.
Then he went back to being the fire-breathing dragon of a coach. He is light-years away from Wade in that respect. And leadership.

Fire breathing? Yes Jimmy was animated on the sideline so what when being the HC of the Hurricanes better known at the time as Gangster U where was the hard discipline? A guy gets in trouble and is not allowed to start but on the 2nd possession he is in the game?

If putting on the show on the sideline is what impresses you great but Landry never ranted on the sidelines hell his expression was the same win or lose. It has nothing to do with the sideline animation one way or the other and Johnson never once cut a decent player off the team that was reserved for guys like Richards.

If this team does not win then yes it is Wade butt just like it was Gruden butt when his team was not getting it done and despite all his antics hollering and whaling on the sideline it amounted to nothing. That is not what inspires people to play hard.

I thought it was a bit funny when Troy, Mike and Emmitt were doing an interview recently and talked about how Emmitt would fall asleep during meetings and film study, yet did Jimmy never once bench him or call him out to the press like many feel Wade should do?

Who in God's name said cut? Sheesh. Fear of playing. Both Troy and Irvin wanted out on that field. STARTING. That was their fear, dude. IF these current players have any desire to play the game of football they'd not want to be on the bad side of Jimmy. If it doesn't bother them then you've exposed what this team doesn't need. It's much more simple than you'e trying to make it.

Bryant? You know of his financial status when out of work?

Lett? Bad example. He had one of the best motors on the team. He didn't NEED jimmy up his butt. Let's try and keep this thing real. This would be for athlete's that need it.

You said fear of J.O.B what does that mean? Job right which in the NFL means cut. Jimmy never held out players. Did Emmitt get held out because he would fall asleep during meetings? I don't think so and yes Emmitt, Mike and Troy stated that just recently and laughed about it. As for Lett he was never chasitied or benched by Johnson. I'm keeping it very real you sit there make excuses for players on one hand and whine about Wade not coming down on some of our key players? Give me a break.

Never whined about Wade. Show it to me. I'll eat it.

I know Lett was never chastised. I confirmed that previously. Thanks for para-phrasing tho.

The portion in bold makes zero sense. Excuse me, What?

J.O.B on the field. Playing time. What they're paid to do. Like I said..............It's much simpler than you're trying to make it. I just gave you examples of Jimmy instilling the fear of no game time. Didn't he have several tirades on the flights back to Dallas? Hmmm. I guess he was reading Dr Seuss aloud, huh? I thought you were a fan? Spin it how you like. Your wrong.

I really don't see why a praise thread about a guy who has played pretty well for us so far (he's at least been a BIG improvement over Thomas) has devolved into some sort of ******** pissing match about Wade Phillips or Jimmy Johnson or w/e.

Par for the course, I guess.

Brooking has a great attitude, great enthusiasm. If you think that's not contagious you've never taken the field, so **** and ****. Glad he's on the team.

Fine they were scared of him. : laugh2: Please his college kids were not scared. Respect yes, motivational yes, but fear? No these grown men were not afraid of Jimmy Johnson if you want to believe that be my guest. I'm not spinning anything but this is not jr high or high school sports
