Mark My words Coach Nolan is gone in SF and they have invested too much money in Smith and Gore they will Sign Garrett as Head coach. they have a good defense just no offense to speak of. there is your dark hose as potential landing spot for Garrett.

Yup, another viable option.

NY, SD, SF... maybe more without even having to consider places like Cincy or Baltimore if they open up.

I'm wound up today! :eek::

If JG leaves, we promote Tony Sparano to OC. Plain and simple.

Yeah, I would be more surprised if Jason Garrett isn't the NYG's head coach next year than not. I"m not sure if people have noticed, but young HC's tend to be the current trend ... see Mike Tomlin.

And, personally, I think Garrett is getting a little too much credit. The truth of the matter is he inherited the 4th best scoring offense in the NFL with Romo only playing part of the season, and Dallas has a terrific offensive brain trust between Garrett, Sporano and Ray Sherman. It's not just all Garrett. He's just become the poster-child, Golden Boy.

I wanna know who made the decision to let JJ run the 4th down.

If it was JG then that decision alone proves he isn't ready to be a HC :p

The "trend" is often to SAVE MONEY or due to it being plan C where plan A and plan B didn't pan out or wanted too much $$$. The rooneys are historicall a cheap crew and didn't want to pay cowher, instead some unproven coach at bargain price.

any offers jason gets should be lowball types and if he takes the bait he is most likely hurting his career, as the franchise he's walking into will probably expose his deficiencies. The guy is getting WAY TOO MUCH credit for taking a B+ offense (misusing it's best playmaker last season TO that played bledsoe for 6 games) and turning it into a grade A offense.

It's not like Tomlin was the only guy who would take the job. There were any number of coaches, at various ages, who would have jumped at a chance to have that position regardless of how much they were paid compared to other HC's around the league. They went with the young guy because that's what they wanted, and that's what the league is going towards.

I'm not going to worry about Garrett leaving us, if he does, then he does, life goes on and the Cowboys will be just fine.

Having said that, I hope Giant go 0-5 in remaining games.

If there is one thing I would bet the house on and it is that Garrett isn't going anywhere soon. When Wade's contract is up in 2 years from now, Jason will be named the head coach and if the Cowboys happen the win the Super Bowl this year and next, then it will be Jason's job sooner with Wade retiring.

Assistants do have to right to interview for a head coaching vacany if the team request a visit but they are not obligated to interview or accept the job. Garrett destiny is as Cowboys HC and it will happen soon enough.

Pitt is a rarity in that they'll stick with a dud for 10 years to save money and be consistent. Not a trend maker in the NFL.

Dal just hired an OLD head coach. We're 11-1. Norv @ SD. Where is the trend except a few flunky organizations with no shot at glory any time soon. Jets fans are hoping for losses for better draft picks. LOL.

PLAYOFF teams don't hire UNPROVEN coaches for the most part.

The "trend" i see is that BAD REBULIDING TEAMS are sometimes hiring YOUNG inexperienced coaches. Most of these coaches are fired within 3 years but that's for another thread

NYG is not rebuilding. They'll be in the playoffs again.

either way i'm fine with or without Jason next year.

...in the regular season. And have playoff success until they play us.

I want that team to show all the signs of coming together under Coughlin because if he gets the axe I will guarantee you that Jason Garrett is their next head coach.

It simply makes too much sense. Who would you rather have creating an environment of success for Eli Manning? And I don't care if Cowher does make himself available. Give me Garrett. I think NY will feel the same way, and I think that would be a plum of a job for someone like Garrett.

I think this Garrett to NY is almost a slam dunk at this point and you're dreaming if you think he's going to stay in Dallas as an assistant no matter what dollars Jerry promises him. Jason Garrett's future is NOW!

You can leave, Your clearly a giants fan.

Jerry would pay Jason $100 million a year before he lets him go the Giants.

I agree. Garrett would be smart to stick around for a year of two more, so he can learn the facets of being a head coach. In Dallas, he is going to be in the inner circle of decision making. In New York, he is a hired hand.

Taking over the reins from Wade in 2009 would be the biggest plum in the league. Wade becomes "Assistant to the Owner" in charge of concessions at the new stadium.
